Just a reminder that drug use in America has caused the violence and corruption in Central America that is sending millions to our southern border.

You're welcome . :)

Decriminalize it and the cartels will no longer have any power

Sure they will, just as the illegal pot trade has exploded thanks to decriminalization. They will also offer stronger and cheaper drugs which our users will line up to buy.

Capitalism works!
But there's no solution in interfering with the working of the 'supplyside'. The solution is in moving the demandside.

Is that called supplyside economics or is it the opposite?

Economics 101 and a prize for the first one to answer!

You're on the right track. Eliminating the demand side is much easier than eliminating the supply side.

Yes, but you didn't answer the question. A hint: interference with the working of the 'supplyside' is?

The weed from down south is damn near worthless to those moving it over the border.

Go in scorched earth and wipe out the cartels will also fix the problem.

with the amounts of death happening here it might be an option. If a country fired missiles into the U.S. and killed 100K people, we would probably go to war, but drugs seemingly benign don't evoke any outrage from our leaders. We also need to go after China , seriously as they are the ones who supply directly to the cartels , all while knowing they are killing Americans. It's basically purposful.
Can Biden come out and just say China is our enemy?

Temporarily, but who's going to do that?
The US and most civilized countries have highly trained operators that nobody knows about, send them in to mop up after some strategic missile strikes and that should do the trick. If you kill off the majority of the foot soldiers and take out the leadership of the cartels as soon as they step up they will crumble.

If the US could or had any interest in doing so it would have been done a long time ago. Furthermore, they’d need Mexico’s permission

The drug cartels are a direct threat to the US and the politicians do not have the balls to do anything about it. Mexican authorities can not be trusted to handle the problem most are on the payroll, so their "permission" is not needed.

I would see every drug dealer and cartel member dead before one US citizen dies of an overdose.
