Along the way, I have known several Holocaust survivors and have absolutely no use for neo Nazism or any form of racist totalitarianism.

Perhaps because some of my family lived in and just North of Dresden, I am sympathetic to the German people but try to remain objective at the same time.

Once in a while, I will simply play "Devil's advocate" for the sake of discussion but, at the same time, I try to make my true sentiments clear.

As far as I know someone else from my families - god rest her soul - was in Dresden at this moment of world history. She suffered her whole life traumata from this time of history. And as far as I know it also could be she was a relative of the architect of the Frauenkirche George Bär.

That is why when some major event happens overseas like the Invasion of Ukraine, I tune to Sky News. I was particularly annoyed as in the US they would go on and on about some celebrity garbage, and only cover this new war briefly and normally badly.

Like when the UK Prime Minister was giving a speech, and they cut away a minute into it and were talking about more celebrity nonsense.

And it is true, most Californians do not care about anybody outside of their little bubble. But it is not even the state, people in SoCal don't really want to hear anything about NorCal (and the reverse is true). When I got caught up in the mess when our dam almost collapsed several years ago, most in my unit had absolutely no idea where Oroville was. To them, if it was north of Sacramento it did not matter to them.
