I was in for 11 years. The only time my teeth became an issue is when I applied for the Naval Academy in HS. THe active Army never cared about my teeth. (And I hated seeing the dentist, so my teeth were not in great shape when I got out. Fortunately, my civilian Dentist has kept me on the straight and narrow and I still have most of my teeth, including some of the wisdom teeth.)

Cool story. Im a retired Marine and spent almost as much time deployed overseas as you did in the Army. Maybe the Army is different but they were pulling guys wisdom teeth out of their head in bootcamp.

Not really. You aren't getting any type of major elective surgery in the time between entering bootcamp and finishing your A school. Those units arent meant to have members there on a long term basis. Even if they were to receive some of what ever therapy/counselling that I'm sure is required prior to get anything that life altering done I doubt that expedites the process significantly. They arent (or at least they shouldnt be) letting them out of significant class time in A school to get prescreened for a surgery that's going to happen at their permanent duty station. But even if they were giving them the surgery in A school, that just means they get to their unit later.

Even then, your figures are off. Recovery for a Vaginoplasty is only 6-8 weeks. Same with a Metoidioplasty. (that's what you call turning a ***** into a dick.)


I had bunion surgery on both feet when I was in. So I was giving a profile of no marching and no running, but I was still expected to be at my desk, doing the paperwork I had to do. The military did a study on this and the average time an individual is on light/limited duty due to sex reassignment surgery is over 210 days. Do you really think they are up hooking and jabbing 6-8 weeks after they have their dick cut off? Even the 210 days that doesnt account for them getting back into shape which doesnt happen over night.

So by your logic, a Four-year contract will only see six months of deployment, Maybe they take off 8 weeks at some point to have bottom surgery. (or have light duty for 8 weeks.)

Maybe they get 1 deployment assuming the deployment schedule for their unit lines up with that 6 month window.
