I think this article is spot on....We are in a death spiral in this country, not because the average American wishes to change things here, but because Democrats have decided that our Constitution doesn't matter in their quest for more power....This is only the start....

As a Progressive you have won. And believe it or not most people are not draconian in views however they are sensitive to excessiveness to degree. Stack what court? I would reference FDR if you'd like a primer on stacking the Supreme Court. How'd that work out for him?
However, Republicans have slowly found a way around stacking. They just nominate far right justices. It's about overturning precedent.
Confirming judges with far right beliefs (while espousing "moderate" views during their confirmation process) who will rule with the
hand of God....while also taking influence peddling from right wing, Christian organizations..even accepting gifts from them. But hey,
it's ok, because it's all for God.

Stacking Congress??? What reality do you live in? Republican legislatures are by far the biggest proponents of redistricting and gerrymandering.
It's all about trying to desperately hold on to power that is slipping away from them in the form of a more multi-racial and multi-cultural country.

Actually, the person who wrote this doesn't understand Roman history any more than American history.

For starters, the Romans didn't stop calling their form of Government a "Republic" when Augustus took power.

Frankly, I'd rather live now than before the 1960's. (I was actually alive in the 1960's) before the 1960's, you didn't have the technology we have now, and if you were black, a woman, gay, you had to live with a lot of restrictions we'd just consider silly now.
