No, he was chronicling it, as a journalist.... he wasn't part of the group. You can watch his videos from the event, interviewing parishioners and espousing he was just covering it and not part of it.

This document will explain the legal rights of a church, a person within a church, and an ICE agent.

Additionally, this document details community safety, human rights, and detention tracking protocols that may be helpful for communities as they respond to recent executive orders and immigration legislation that has been enacted. Our prayer is that this correspondence will help address existing confusion and equip our churches to feel resourced and supported in faithfully caring for their communities.

Was he there as a member of the media covering the event, and not a participant in the event? This will be his legal argument in court?

If this was really about journalism and wanting go discuss the pastors connections with ICE, they could have waited until AFTER the service and asked to speak with him, that would have been fine, but NO, they instead burst in and harassed innocent church goers just to trash Christianity and claim they are “White Supremacists”.
