Doge reduced warning and response time for the Texas flood.

There are people whose timing is just awful.
"Ted Cruz has had quite a week. On Tuesday, the Texas senator ensured the Republican spending bill slashed funding for weather forecasting, only to then go on vacation to Greece while his state was hit by deadly flooding, a disaster critics say was worsened by cuts to forecasting."

How did I just know he was gonna run from this?

Cancun Crus strikes again!

There were three separate warnings as far ahead of the event as 12 hours. Alarms have been suggested many times over the past 12 years under three administrations and nothing was done. So much for the cuts in funding to an incompetent department, eh? Try again.
requests for federal funding was denied, and state law makers refused to approve it.

Actually Simp I read just fine. It would appear though that maybe YOU should spend as much time in the future reading EVERYTHING in the shit you post as you do selecting goofy emoticons to go with your cherry-picked snippets.
Take this part of your post that you conveniently left out for instance:

While the office was fully staffed with five employees that night, a permanent Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) was not present. The position was vacant due to an early retirement offer accepted by Paul Yura, who had previously held the role. The WCM acts as a crucial link between forecasters and emergency managers.

Again, I will ask, and maybe (doubtful) I'll finally get an answer - what DIDN'T happen that Paul Yura would have done if he were still on the job, that led to this tragedy? Specifically?

Indeed, Since when has it become a Federal responsibility to to this when the Government has already provided States, cities and towns with meteorological information on an hourly basis.

AI says:
"NOAA provides essential services such as weather forecasts, emergency alerts for severe weather, and climate data that help states, cities, and towns prepare for and respond to natural hazards. Their work supports community safety, economic planning, and environmental management, ensuring sustainable use of marine resources and protection of coastal areas."
As been proven, NOAA fulfilled their responsibilities to alert the areas of Texas that would or could be affected by the storm and flooding that would follow.
the Democrats and your attempts to blame Trump are spurious and unfound and blatant lies..

Am I trying to blame Trump? Have I spoken about Trump?

It's not an "attack"! It's simply pointing out what it is that you DO here!

Yeah, it is. It's a way for you and the rest to avoid the fact that these kids didn't need to have died.

But they did, and the reason they did was because people can't be bothered to put safety measures in place.

But you just go and attack me so you can avoid talking about that.

You misunderstood my point. The point is, measures were taken two days before the North Carolina storm hit and more people still died than in this one. But there was no outrage.

I'm sorry, but all this rhetoric about staff cuts and whatnot just smacks of Trump bashing. Besides all that, there is no direct evidence to suggest the staff cuts made any difference. The warnings were issued just as they were supposed to be as data presented itself. However, given the intensity of the storm and how fast the waters rose, I'm not sure that earlier warnings would have made a difference. I think it caught everyone off guard.

Speaking for myself, I am not laying the deaths of little girls at anyone's feet unless they find evidence to suggest the staff cuts and/or lack of an early warning system were contributing factors.

So, you're saying because in North Carolina people died even with warnings, we should just not have warnings?

Not sure what else what you're saying could mean.

requests for federal funding was denied, and state law makers refused to approve it.
LMAO, so Trump is responsible for requests for federal funding under Obama and Biden, eh. I think that justifies cuts to an incompetent department. BTW, all that means nothing when alarms were sounded to the area 12 hours, 3 hours and one hour prior to the flood. Democrat misdirected hysteria fails again.

So now it takes over 100 dead Americans to demonstrate that those warnings were not baseless. That area does not need thoughts and prayers, it needs an river monitoring and warning system.

Simp, they didn't need a permanent WCM on duty that night as another was there filling in for the retiree providing accurate up to date forecasting data for the numerous warnings they put out.

Still, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.

Gee, Poor Ted just can't catch a break. Every time he leaves the state, another disaster hits!

There were plentiful warnings about the dangers of cutting an already understaffed Weather Service.
The NWS is the LAST place I go to for weather data. Half the time, the site doesn't work properly, and the information is highly limited. Anytime the NWS wants to know what is really going on out there, I recommend they try Meteoblue.

Having more weather men isn’t going to prevent floods.

Is Lying Cancun Ted going to blame his daughters like he did when he hauled ass off to Cancun?

How many fuckin' retarded threads do you plan to start on this?

Quit being a fuckin' dick.

You realize you are holding on to the shitty end of the 80/20 stick don't you?

All you do is serve to remind everyone how evil you people are.

TDS makes ugly women uglier.
Numbnuts Trump said he may go to Texas end of this week. That is, if it rains in Jersey & his golf plans are a washout.

If he goes he'll toss out Bounty to the afflicted than abandon them like the bastard did to Puerto Rico.

SCREW the government NWS. Here is the extent of all that NOAA can tell me about tomorrow:

Here is what a non-governmental site can tell me:

Screen Shot 2025-07-07 at 9.50.47 PM.webp

  • The temp every 3 hours.
  • Wind direction and speed every 3 hours.
  • Precipitation probability and amounts every 3 hours so I even know WHEN it will rain and by how much.
  • Temperature trends.
  • Cloud cover patterns and elevation.
No contest.

I just saw Ted Cruz's emotional performance during a press conference. It was very cringeworthy. He'll never be nominated for a Grammy.
