Doge reduced warning and response time for the Texas flood.

Terrorists blows herself up in Afghanistan and kills 13 marines and we hear how avoidable it was. Now all we needed here was an accurate forecast… not down to the inch. Just one that said life threatening rain is possible.. to save 30 lives. I mean, why can’t you put Americans over politics?

How did cutting off funding for a homosexual Sesame Street show for Baghdad do that???

Ok that's obtuse

Warnings were issued

Urgent Warning Issued Amid Major Texas Floods: 'Move to Higher Ground Now'

National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists have warned people in Central Texas to move to higher ground on Friday, with the risk of heavy rain causing life-threatening flash floods across the region.

As much as 15 inches (38 cm) of rain have been reported north of San Angelo, NWS meteorologist James Wingenroth told Newsweek. The official rainfall report for San Angelo is 3.52 inches, which is more than three times the average for the entire month of July.

Straw man argument. How about you explain the NWS laying of hundreds and then going.. oh shit we need to hire hundreds back?

Incompetence which led to this disaster.

Demonstrates responsible management of government. Cut 560 dead weight, DEI hires and soon to be retirees and replace them with 125 merit based hires.

Great job Trump!

LOL!!!

The Democrat Party exists to steal from the American taxpayer.

If you attempt to cut out what they steal, they will do this on every issue, as if somehow cutting off trans credit cards used to party and attend UFC fight events did something bad...
20 children at a camp were swept away by flood waters during the night while they slept and are now presumed dead and your response is LOL? That's heart-breaking

Desperate search for missing girls from summer camp after Texas floods kill at least 24

Getting rid of CO2 FRAUD conspirators and replacing them with honest Americans, the right thing to do.

That’s not what happened. NWS didn’t review performance. They fired the least tenured people to cut a head count goal. Here is the reason they are adding back. They can’t staff around the clock/holidays /weekends.

ā€œFollowing the job cuts, some field offices were no longer staffed around the clock. Some also cut back on weather balloon launches, critical tools in gathering data needed for local and national forecasts, according to the National Weather Service.ā€

I think you might be blinded by utter fealty and loyalty to a man instead of your fellow Americans. You could have looked this up before posting praise to the guy who is responsible for these deaths.

Did DOGE develop all that land in a flood zone? For decades? :rolleyes-41:

That’s just more right wing conspiratorial chirping. Any comment on this debacle?

Doge taking a chain saw to our weather monitoring and warning systems and to FEMA has made the tragedy of the Texas flood even worse than it had to be. Those agencies were in place for a reason, and should have never been degraded by someone who didn't even understand why we need those agencies.

Yes, it's quite possible that victims of the recent Texas flood could have received earlier or more effective warnings if not for cuts and policy shifts tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and former President Donald Trump's administration.

šŸŒ€ What Happened in Texas?

On July 4, 2025, catastrophic flash flooding struck areas along the Guadalupe River, leading to fatalities and widespread emergency rescues. Local authorities issued urgent warnings, but the scale and speed of the flooding overwhelmed many systems.

🧩 How DOGE and Trump’s Policies May Have Affected This

According to investigative reporting from the Texas Observer and San Antonio Current, the Trump administration’s DOGE initiative significantly impacted federal disaster preparedness and response:

  • FEMA Cuts: DOGE slashed FEMA’s workforce by about 20% and froze parts of its funding.
  • Disaster Aid Shift: Trump announced plans to phase out FEMA and shift disaster response responsibilities to individual states, arguing governors should handle emergencies independently.
  • Climate Risk Data Degradation: DOGE reportedly dismantled or degraded federal resources that track and model climate-augmented weather risks, such as flood forecasting and early warning systems.
  • Infrastructure Investment Delays: Federal support for flood prevention projects—like levees and drainage upgrades—was reduced or delayed, leaving vulnerable areas more exposed.

🧭 Could Earlier Warnings Have Been Possible?

While local agencies like the Harris County Flood Control District did issue warnings, the broader federal infrastructure that supports early detection, modeling, and communication of extreme weather risks may have been weakened. This could have:

  • Reduced the lead time for warnings
  • Limited the accuracy of flood forecasts
  • Slowed coordination between federal and local responders

So while it's speculative to say definitively that lives would have been saved, the evidence strongly suggests that federal cuts and policy shifts under DOGE and Trump made Texas—and its residents—more vulnerable to disasters like this one.
May? Speculative? Reportedly?

Looks like NWS was on top of it.

The National Water Center warned several rivers would face serious flooding by Friday afternoon, including the Colorado River near San Saba, Texas; the Guadalupe River near Comfort, Texas; the Guadalupe River near Kerrville, Texas; and the Guadalupe River near Hunt, Texas.

Well-written post, Bulldog. I may not agree with all the conclusions, but credit where it's due—this is how you start a real discussion.

That said, I do wonder: even with all the cuts and restructuring, isn’t it fair to ask how much of this came down to local response systems being overwhelmed? Flash floods are fast and chaotic. Not sure FEMA having 20% more budget would’ve made the Guadalupe behave any differently that night.

And just a side note—calling the Department of Government Efficiency ā€œDOGEā€ gave me a mental image of a Shiba Inu wearing a FEMA vest. Much response. Very bureaucracy. Wow.

Anyway—genuinely curious to dig into this more. Got any sources on how FEMA’s lead time actually changed over the last few years? I’d like to understand how that played out on the ground.

Now, even the emergency people in texas are blaming the gutted National Weather Service.

Why don't you go tell them your lies that their loved ones would not have died in a flood no one has the power to prevent and blame that on Trump. It's what you are going to lie about anyway.
No one had the power to prevent it, but we could have predicted it sooner and better before the doge cuts.

Billshit.
Leave it to a worthless leftist traitor to blame a natural disaster on a politician.
Many little girls tragically killed and you take the opportunity to spew your Trump hate.
You are truly the lowest of human scum.
