Yet it is Iceland. Here is the photo of Iceland. Why does Denmark want to keep it?

Trumps contention is for our security we need it. Why don't Democrats see it like that?

I thought that Iceland was lovely and Greenland was nothing but a giant dirty ice ball, but Leif Erikson gave them counter-names to fool others who might be tempted to go there and plunder them.

Regardless, it is Greenland that Trump wants to control somehow, to prevent China and Russia from establishing a significant presence, there which would be detrimental to U.S. national security. Nobody gives a shit about Iceland, although they are doing a very nice tourism business these days, from what I hear.

The Red Ash Hills, or Rauðhólar, are a group of striking red pseudocraters located in the Elliðaárhraun lava fields on the southeastern outskirts of Reykjavík.

Geological Formation

The Rauðhólar are pseudocraters, also called rootless cones, which formed about 5,200 years ago when hot lava from the Leitin shield volcano in the Brennisteinsfjöll volcanic system flowed over wet ground or shallow lakes. The interaction of lava with water caused steam explosions, creating crater-like structures without a direct connection to a magma chamber, making them geologically unique Guide to IcelandGuide to Iceland+2. The red color of the hills comes from iron oxidation in the rocks, giving them a distinctive “Mars-like” appearance www.gocarrental.iswww.gocarrental.is+1.

Location and Access

Rauðhólar are situated in the Heiðmörk Nature Reserve, a protected area on the southeastern edge of Reykjavík, near the lake Elliðavatn. The site is easily accessible, about 20–25 minutes by car from Reykjavík, and features walking trails that allow visitors to explore the craters and surrounding lava fields Guide to IcelandGuide to Iceland+1. The area is managed for both recreation and education, with no facilities on-site, so visitors are advised to stay on marked paths and bring necessary supplies www.gocarrental.iswww.gocarrental.is.

Historical Significance

Originally, there were over 150 craters, but much of the gravel was removed during World War II for construction projects, including Reykjavík Airport and roads, reducing the number to around 80 today visitreykjavik.isvisitreykjavik.is+1. Protection measures began in 1961, and the area was fully incorporated into the Heiðmörk Nature Reserve by 1974 www.gocarrental.iswww.gocarrental.is.

Visiting Rauðhólar

The Red Ash Hills offer a unique volcanic landscape without the crowds of more popular Icelandic sites. Visitors can enjoy hiking, bird watching, and exploring lava formations. The combination of geological history, vivid red coloration, and proximity to Reykjavík makes Rauðhólar a popular destination for both tourists and locals Guide to IcelandGuide to Iceland+1.
In summary, the Red Ash Hills are a rare and visually striking example of Icelandic pseudocraters, notable for their red color, geological formation, and accessibility near the capital city.

Why doesn't the right stop trying to bully people and taking their stuff? The right claims to be religious yet they break the rules of their religion.

We now bullied Iceland into being our possession?

There is some cool stuff there. Wouldn't want to live there though. It's an increasingly important place re spotting subs and monitoring shipping lanes.

Naval Air Station Keflavik (NASKEF) was a United States Navy air station at Keflavík International Airport, Iceland, located on the Reykjanes peninsula on the south-west portion of the island. NASKEF was closed on 8 September 2006 and its facilities were taken over by the Icelandic Defence Agency

Denmark owns Iceland?
Denmark doesn't own Greenland... it operates as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark... Greenland has its own parliament and prime minister...
while Denmark retains control over foreign policy... and defense....

It is a NATO base, yes. Merely a technicality. 400,000 people don't really need an international airport complex, they can just commute by air to the UK.

he Detachment 4 of the US Air Force (USAF) Installation and Mission Support Center has awarded three contracts with a total value of $38m to upgrade the airfield infrastructure at Naval Air Station Keflavik in Iceland.

The projects support the European Deterrence Initiative (EDI) which is implemented by the US European Command.

It aims to boost the US Air Forces, Nato member state forces and European allies’ responsiveness and readiness.

The initiative is a partnership between the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Detachment 4, US Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe Africa Central, the Icelandic Coast Guard and the Icelandic Airport & Air Navigation Authority.

The design and construction manager, Detachment 4, will carry out the project with aid from NAVFAC EURACENT.

Adm. Stuart B. Munsch, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF), visited Keflavík Air Base, July 10, demonstrating the U.S. Navy's commitment to security in the Arctic region and highlighting the enduring bilateral defense relationship between the United States and Iceland.

U.S. naval forces operating at Keflavík Air Base play an important role in homeland defense, the Admiral said, and routinely work with Allies and partners to deter and defend in a critical maritime chokepoint for transatlantic security.

“The strategic location of Keflavík Air Base is important in our efforts to defend our homeland, secure the Arctic, and support our NATO Allies,” Munsch said. “This base, the U.S. Navy squadrons rotating through Keflavík, and the Alliance we share with Iceland enable us to project combat-credible capabilities and maintain maritime domain awareness across the North Atlantic and Artic regions.”

During his visit, Munsch toured ongoing upgrades to NATO Hangar 831, showcasing Allied cooperation in enhancing NATO's operational capabilities and ensuring warfighting readiness. He also observed improvements to U.S. Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) and Aviation Support Division (ASD) spaces, which improves the Navy’s ability to maintain aviation assets forward operating in the region.

Patrol Squadron (VP) 1, normally based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, is one of the forward operating naval squadrons in Keflavík. VP-1 is a P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime aircraft squadron forward deployed to conduct anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and humanitarian response activities.

We're still there.

the air station site was handed over to the Icelandic government, and has since been redeveloped as housing and commercial development under the Kadeco company.[3]

Nope. We have units stationed there, Air Force and Navy both, as well as assorted Intel units, and we fund most of its upgrades.

Sounds like you think this is Greenland. Photos are Iceland. The base you mention is now housing units.
