The "major" sports, excepting baseball, have all come to tolerate "incidental contact" that would constitute felony assaults were they committed in public. Hockey, football, and NBA fans have, it appears, come to accept and even like these displays of male aggression in the context of competitive sports.

But is that same phenomenon an enhancement of womens' basketball or a flaw what repulses their would-be fan base? Last year's television viewing numbers find more than twenty games involving Caitlin Clark that had viewership of more than a million, while there were ZERO games without her that drew that many viewers.

CC is conspicuous for playing aggressively but without physically assaulting her opponents. She is regularly assaulted, often with no penalty called.

The WNBA is a money-losing proposition, even with the enhanced viewership of the past year. Why wouldn't the owners at least attempt to control the bullshit by first, announcing to the players and the public that such conduct will no longer be tolerated, and second, making it happen. I would personally suggest suspending the coach, without pay, for a couple of games when one of these assaults occur. It would stop immediately.

What about you? Are you more likely to tune in when you know that the rules will be enforced, or do you like the muggings?

I would never watch it, period.

In general - with male sports leagues - a little loosening of such rules might not be a bad thing. In basketball in particular, the game theoretically is a non-contact sport, but in reality, of course there is lots of contact as tall men in good shape with aggressive personalities all go for what to them is a ball that is no larger than a softball would seem to normal sized people.

For women, allowing such behavior will turn the game into what used to be known in horse raceing as a 'drugstore race,' in which the horse who was given the best combination of performance enhancers. Allow women to win games by pushing and shoving each other and they will all steroid up and WNBA teams will look like the East German women's swim team.

Of course, when some dudes who did not make the cut in the NBA decide to call themselves "Judy" and join the WNBA, oustanding women athletes will start dying or sustaining life altering injuries. Democrats will blame them for being "bullies."

It is amusing to see ESPN push their telecasts, like every game promises to be exciting to watch. I'm not sure who sits through those, maybe young girls?

It's the same way that Fox Sports pushes their UFL games. I've seen more people at high school football games where I live than I have seen at most UFL games. NASCAR used to be popular than they replaced all the characters who drove the cars with young drivers who sell sponsor products, and now hardly anyone cares.

You have to know who the players are to care, that's why Clark is so popular.

Women's sports have increased in popularity with the inclusion of men and the acceptance of black on white violence. It's not the sport. It's the chance of seeing a woman beaten or injured that is the crowd pleaser. It's no longer sport. It's the new arena.

Actual nterviewer question of an NFL player: "Would you rather your city's WNBA team win the title, or would you rather have five dollars?"

That's an easy one.

That is the problem for WNBA
Women just don’t care.

Randomly ask women to name a WNBA team and they can’t
Ask anyone to name a player other than Caitlyn Clark and few can.

The idea IMHO, is to get men to care about ladies' basketball- not women.

The keys in my opinion is for the league to adopt sexier uniforms and recruit lingerie models instead of college athletes to play.

More fellows would tune in to see a dame with Double-F cups boobs running up and down the court instead of the girls they have now.

Angel Reese, who is not even a good basketball player (and there are some legit good women basketball players other than Clark)
ESPN is trying to change that, but not sure it is working.

When I went to a Mickey D's for a coffee and saw all these "Angel Reese value meals" and her picture everywhere it just confirms to me that Mickey D's targets the poorest, fattest, most low income customers.

We’re watching societal-approved racial
Aggression by bitter, sour black players (Angel Reese and Chicago Sky) against Clark. They’re mad that a white girl not only is completely better than they are in the sport that their community gate keeps, but also that Clark
Is getting the deserved fame for her talents.

Here’s their take:

“It’s BS Clark is so elevated. It can’t be that she’s better than us, it’s because she’s white. So we’re going to righteously target her because of her skin color in the name of racial justice”

Basically, they’re gonna be racist to fight racism, and blame their decreased talent levels on race. Reese and her woke BLM crew are so bitter, they wake up seething about it

If the WNBA does not protect Clark, she needs to take her game to Europe or Asia and hang the WNBA out to dry
I think the gate-keeping black community would rather the WNBA fail or remain a charity/subsidized league than succeed under Clark. They are happy to fail and just blame men and white people (which is the playbook in politics and society as well)

The NBA has turned loose “letting them play” for the playoffs 2025 for certain. Offensive players are clearing a path or putting arm out to chest to shove the Defense backwards off balance. More than I remember.

Disclaimer: not looked at NBA regular season since 1998 or so? Some playoff game 7 last 3 min, then bagan to watch more Playoffs 2024 for gambling. Now, TV tuned in most games on mute glancing in. I am no expert.

But back in the olden days you couldn’t shove or run over the defense like the do now. Huge players at speed charging down the lane. Elbows flying too more than I ever remember.

How can you play basketball with 9” fingernails and a bow in your hair and be taken seriously? The ball is smaller (per Couchpotato) and any HS boys team would blow them out. Probably the JV team.

She could go to the WWE as well, if she is willing to learn the pro wrestling business. Wouldn't be the first lady basketball player in the squared circle.

Except she isn't "better", she's just more attractive. So she's making money on her looks and getting the endorsement deals and such.

Or maybe she isn't as tough as the other female players who were hired for their athletic ability.

Do they want to turn the WNBA into the Lingere Bowl, that's fine. Just don't pretend it's about the athletics anymore.

Or maybe nobody really cares about the WNBA to start with.
