Does everyone realize that Cruz is the GOP's last pick to beat Trump?

The GOP tried to push everyone but Cruz to beat Trump. Now they are getting behind him in order to topple Trump but will the GOP support Cruz if Trump is removed? It is kind of like being the last girl to be picked for a date so it doesn't say much what they think of Cruz.
