LBJ was a legendary old crook but the media loved the big lug. They actually joked about dead Texans voting for him. There's a story about LBJ activists bugging Goldwater's plane. Black Bag tricks were all the rage but the mainstream media hated Nixon. Would any newspaper get away with pulling the stuff Woodward/Bernstein got way with? Imagine an anonymous unverified informant who's identity was kept secret until he died and couldn't verify information? Democrats wouldn't stand for it even if their minions in the media turned on them. Stodgy old Nixon wasn't half as interesting as the sex, drugs and rock&roll of the Clinton administration but the media was more interested in 2nd rate burglaries in republican administrations than mysterious deaths and allegations of rape in a democrat administration. Nixon was the liberal media's high water mark and they still dig up poor old Tricky Dick when democrats get in trouble.

So you support Nixon's criminality. Why am I not surprised.

Support? Nixon has been dead probably before you were born. Anytime you see old Nixon movies on cable or modern junk about the Nixon years it means democrats are in trouble and would rather talk about Nixon than address the problems (which are many) in the current administration.

Nixon was a Californian that was born in the state and served as a politician there up until becoming vice-president. It was in California that he was first called "tricky Dicky". The sleazy California effect cannot be understated. In 1969 Nixon appointed Charles Keating head of a sleazy commission (President's Commission on Obscenity and Pornography).

As we all know Charles Keating was a crook defrauding and destroying the lives of thousands of investors through Lincoln Savings and Loan in CALIFORNIA. It was also discovered that another sleazy politician, John McCain received free trips and money from Keating and helped Keating in his criminal endeavor.

And there you have but one small example of the California sleaze factor.

You can do this with most states and make Democrats or Republicans guilty by association with a particular state.
