I did it known. Dog went after my son. I stepped in, told the owner, if I saw that dog loose again, I would kill it. I look out, see the dog, loose, son is due home from school soon. First, I call work, had the evening shift. Told the manager, I was going to be busy, going to shoot a damn dog, and figure I got to handle the consequences. I put the dog down, call the Sheriff. He is like, no worries. Manager told me he thought that was the most original call out ever.

Good on you. The owner of the dog I killed was crazy and might have gone after the kids if he had known, so then I would have had to forestall that. Good on you.

I'm the same. I will not tolerate a vicous dog in My neighborhood. We have kids who play here. Luckily, the one clown who liked to let his dog roam moved away.

Look, I had nothing to do with it, okay? :eusa_shifty:

I love our four legged friends. I will dog and cat rescue in the middle of the night if necessary, the more rain the better.

But a bad animal, much like a bad person, cannot be tolerated to wreak havoc.

No, I get it. But a dog is a reflection of the owner. If one has a vicious dog, well we should examine the owner.

I had the greatest dog in the entire world. And I didn't come to him, he came to me. He just showed up, never left my side, and saved my ass more times than I could count. Dad got promoted, we had to move. He told me, you have to find the owner of that dog if you want to take him with you. I did it.

It was about a mile from the house, took some time to figure out where it was. I knocked on the door, Tippy by my side. Told the owner the situation and he seemed relieved. He said his daughter had left for college, the dogs name was Snuffy, but he adopted me after she left. He wished me well, and gracefully gave me permission to take "Tippy" with me.

He saved me over and over again. Walked to school when in Elementary School, Tippy by my side, Waiting, by the school room window, until I was let out. High School, school bus, never missed it, Tippy would sit in front of it until I got there. We had to lock him in the basement if I wasn't going to get on the school bus. And it wasn't just me, he saved the life of a small child, knocking them down before they ran into the road of ongoing traffic. He was a celebrity in the neighborhood and believe me, he milked it.

No doubt there are dogs that are prone more to being friendly and there are dogs more prone to being vicious. But, no matter which dog the owner has, the dog needs to be secured on their property or on a leash if outside your property.

Most owners don't know or agree about dog mentality. They are dogs. They are not human. They react, they don't reason. Thus that precious golden retriever which is friendly as hell to everyone, can turn into a vicious dog if he gets lose and starts running with other dogs. The pack mentality.

So many city people move to the country to get away from the dangers of city life. They bring their dogs with them. Because they are in the country they think they can just let their dog loose and roam free. Bad move. Slowly their dogs meet other dogs and become a pack. Which can roam about and come upon peoples homes where kids are playing. And the kids see them, get scared and run, and pack mentality kicks in. Then you get new reports of some child being mauled to death by a bunch of dogs. Or an adult for that matter.

Why? Because of stupid people who think their dog is just like them. Most cities have protective laws against roaming dogs. But in the country you may not. My advice, if one lives in the country and you see one or two dogs come through your land, drop em on the spot. For soon they will be three or four. And then your child or grandchild will be food for them.

Understand that the owners of these roaming dogs don't care if you feed your children to them. And when that happens, no one seems to know who owns those dogs. Don't give roaming dogs a second chance. Give your kids and grandkids a chance.

It happens more than you think.

Either capture and control loose dog packs, or kill them.

There is no middle ground with pack animals of that size.

Except when they run in packs, and if they do unchecked, they will become bad dogs.

Get them picked up or shoot them before a child gets mauled.

I didn't know Christi Noem posted here! When we lived on the point all the neighborhood dogs roamed from house to house, hanging out. We had two labs from next door that would hang out on the top deck with the wife's cat, just watching the neighborhood.
