Do Republicans understand the meaning of the word "coalition"?

Seems Republicans keep insisting that blacks and Hispanics and gays and women are being misled by those in charge of the Democratic Party. Those four groups are valuable members of the coalition party. They aren't subjugated. They are valuable members. The Democrats are led by blacks and Hispanics and gays and women among others. The leadership is a coalition. Not some monolithic group of who knows what. While the single largest group is white, those whites include gays and scientists and others the Republicans simply will not tolerate in their party.

Do Republicans think their party is a coalition? If so, what are the diverse groups that make up the GOP?

Do democrats know the word Compromise? How about working well with others? A divided Congress only works when both sides are willing to compromise on some issues, unlike Reid shutting out the House for 3 years. Unlike a Health Care bill no one read and no Republican had any input on.

Unlike a committee where the President kept changing the terms as the Republicans agreed to his previous terms.

You are full of shit. Compromise?

A huge part of the blame for today’s disaster attaches to conservatives and Republicans ourselves.

At the beginning of this process we made a strategic decision: unlike, say, Democrats in 2001 when President Bush proposed his first tax cut, we would make no deal with the administration. No negotiations, no compromise, nothing. We were going for all the marbles. This would be Obama’s Waterloo – just as healthcare was Clinton’s in 1994.

Only, the hardliners overlooked a few key facts: Obama was elected with 53% of the vote, not Clinton’s 42%. The liberal block within the Democratic congressional caucus is bigger and stronger than it was in 1993-94. And of course the Democrats also remember their history, and also remember the consequences of their 1994 failure.

This time, when we went for all the marbles, we ended with none.

Could a deal have been reached? Who knows? But we do know that the gap between this plan and traditional Republican ideas is not very big. The Obama plan has a broad family resemblance to Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts plan. It builds on ideas developed at the Heritage Foundation in the early 1990s that formed the basis for Republican counter-proposals to Clintoncare in 1993-1994.

Barack Obama badly wanted Republican votes for his plan. Could we have leveraged his desire to align the plan more closely with conservative views? To finance it without redistributive taxes on productive enterprise – without weighing so heavily on small business – without expanding Medicaid? Too late now. They are all the law.

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the Republican party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."

Yes, the Republicans understand the meaning of coalition, bi-partisan and compromise: do it the Democrat way, which they've pretty much been doing for the last 20 years.

I'm kinda busy now...I'm thinking about the Super Bowl.
You can spend all your time bashing the republicans.
It seems to make you happy...

Bill Clinton is looked upon favorably by many Republicans because he understood compromise--much better President than Owbama could ever dream of being.

Rumor has it that when the Dean of Harvard was asked about what kind of student Owbama was his response was very bright one of the smartest students to ever come thru this college. But extremely stubborn and un compromising, things have to go his way.

These are qualities you do not want in good leadership and they show.

More lies from thr left. Just because you say it, doesn't make it true. Next you'll probably try to make us believe the TeaParty are a bunch of racist.

well, that was a rambling piece of the same ole crap different day

someone has a lot of time sitting in the insane asylum to come up with this junk

He doesn't care
He has no honor and is a race hustler

the thing with progressive/liberals speak of coalition

It's only to use people to sling HATE at others...They aren't individuals to Democrats, they are groups to be used

why anyone wouldn't be OFFENDED by this and belong to that horrible party is beyond me

dimocraps are proven liars, haters, and racists. They have no honor, no integrity, no good will, no respect for others and no intention of keeping ANY bargain the minute it no longer suits their nefarious purposes.

You don't compromise with people like that, you destroy them.

I don't ever recall liberal Democrats using the word compromise when it comes to them. Republicans need to compromise with Democrats apparently but Democrats never need to compromise with Republicans. Fairness is demonstrated by how much Republicans concede to Democrats.

Only partly. They believe the only ones who should "compromise" (cave) are the Republicans. You'll never see or hear of a Democrat who believes they should be the ones to "compromise".

why didn't you post the entire chart? take it back to 1940 and its almost completely blue. Dems are mostly responsible for the mess we are in today, they controlled congress for most of the last 75 years.
