Thought we put this one to bed over 20 years ago, but some still wanna paint homosexuals as more likely to be child molestors. So a refresher.

Objective. To determine if recognizably homosexual adults are frequently accused of the sexual molestation of children.

Patients. Patients were 352 children (276 girls and 76 boys) referred to a subspecialty clinic for the evaluation of suspected child sexual abuse. Mean age was 6.1 years (range, 7 months to 17 years).

Results. Abuse was ruled out in 35 cases. Seventy-four children were allegedly abused by other children and teenagers less than 18 years old. In 9 cases, an offender could not be identified. In the remaining 269 cases, two offenders were identified as being gay or lesbian. In 82% of cases (222/269), the alleged offender was a heterosexual partner of a close relative of the child. Using the data from our study, the 95% confidence limits, of the risk children would identify recognizably homosexual adults as the potential abuser, are from 0% to 3.1%. These limits are within current estimates of the prevalence of homosexuality in the general community.

Conclusions. The children in the group studied were unlikely to have been molested by identifiably gay or lesbian people."

Who cares? All child molestors should be shot once its determined they committed the crime.

The Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of Justice have found that 11% of high school girls and 4% of high school boys report having been forced to have sex at some point. Moreover, research from the National Criminal Justice Reference Service has found that 1 in 15 U.S. adults report being forced to have sex during their lifetimes. Because of under-reporting and community codes of silence, however, this continues to be a particularly difficult area for researchers seeking conclusive figures.

To deal with the relative lack of consistent data, a 2009 metastudy from the University of Barcelona published in Clinical Psychology Review, “Prevalence of Child Sexual Abuse in Community and Student Samples: A Meta-Analysis,” analyzed 65 research studies across 22 countries to estimate an “overall international figure” for such abuse.

The study’s findings include:

* An estimated 7.9% of men and 19.7% of women globally experienced sexual abuse prior to the age of 18.
* U.S. rates were 7.5% for males and 25.3% for females.
* The highest prevalence rate of child sexual abuse geographically was found in Africa (34.4%.) Europe showed the lowest prevalence rate (9.2%). America and Asia had prevalence rates between 10.1% and 23.9%.
* South Africa has the highest prevalence rates for both men (60.9%) and women (43.7%). Jordan presents the second-highest prevalence rate for men (27%), followed by Tanzania (25%). Rates between 10% and 20% are reported for males in Israel (15.7%), Spain (13.4%), Australia (13%) and Costa Rica (12.8%), while the remaining countries all have prevalence rates below 10%.
* For women, seven countries reported prevelence rates above 20%: Australia (37.8%), Costa Rica (32.2%), Tanzania (31.0%), Israel (30.7%), Sweden (28.1%), the United States (25.3%) and Switzerland (24.2%).
* The generally much-lower rate for males may be partially inaccurate; under-reporting may be particularly prevalent because of the “possibility of greater shame and the fear that they will be labeled as homosexual (if the aggressor was another man) or weak (if the aggressor was a woman), which may combine with the fact that they are more often accused of having provoked the abuse.”

Wrong actually. Molestors molest children. Pedophilia is like heterosexuality or homosexuality. It describes the attraction, not the actual act. Straights and gays can be straight and gay but never have sex. Same with pedophiles. The refrain pedophiles are molestors is just intellectual laziness, "I don't wanna have to learn more."

Not all molestors are clinically-diagnosed pedophiles, some are just opportunistic sexual predators raping whoever's at hand or the easiest target, usually women and children. But they would have no special sexual attraction to children specifically. They end up being the married family people, coaches, clergy, etc. No one ever suspected because they seemed heterosexual maintaining adult sexual relationships.

Clinical pedophiles on the other hand are characterized by dysfunctional adult-adult relationships, are the ones who stand out seeming a little off exhibiting more stereotypical childish behaviours like Michael Jackson. Jackson's marriages were neevr believed to be about romance and sexual desire so much as convenience, a beard. Everything that became public about MJ indicates he woulda been diagnosed a clinical pedophile if he'd lived longer.

Does it matter? Either way they are sick fucks, and the fact of the matter is that both have been guilty of doing it. Psychologists will tell you that "pedophilia" does not fit into either the "hetero" or "homo" category though. It is it's OWN mental illness. I've heard of cases where pedophiles have molested both, male and female victims. I don't think it is an "either or" kind of thing.

I don't see that it really matters. Gay or straight or bisexual or whatever, they should be thrown in jail for the rest of their lives so that they can't harm any more children.
