IMO, if news of the ruling had come out closer to the election, it would have had a greater effect, so the leak didn't help Dems.

Not at all. Fetuses aren't viable outside the womb, and therefore not people. They were never treated as people when abortion was illegal.

Once you declare them people, and not a part of the woman's body, the woman now has less rights when she is pregnant. And this goes beyond abortion.
