I wouldn’t necessarily call Miami a Cinderella team. Keep in mind that this has been a pretty interesting NBA season with some of the best teams coming out in the seventh or eighth seed. Like say the Golden State Warriors or the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA west. Just because the team finishes sixth , seventh or eighth in their conference doesn’t make them a big dog.
I think the points can be made now that it would be wrong to expect Miami to just fall apart against Denver, considering how well they played against Milwaukee and Boston. That’s not a Cinderella run that’s not luck to be able to beat those teams at the fashion that they did. It’s luck when you could beat a team like Boston once in the series ….it is far from luck to be able to actually beat Boston and Milwauke In the same playoff run.
Miami is not a favorite against Denver. Make no mistake about it. But this isn’t like some sort of a situation Where it is David versus Goliath. Miami is a proven team with a superb coach and a stellar cast of players.
I could understand if people were saying that the Miami Heat are going to get blown out by Denver if this was the first round. But even then, with players like Jimmy Butler, bam, and a returning Tyler hero , and a guy like Pat Riley in the front office, that’s not giving the Miami Heat the credit they deserve. …. But considering this year and the past three or four years with regards to the history of the Miami Heat, it would make sense to suggest that the Miami Heat can make this a six - seven game series or even win it.
