I have often noticed that older European men, especially Brits, often have very bad teeth.

In the U.S., getting "cosmetic" improvements to one's "smile" is an expensive proposition, usually not covered by insurance. For example, I recently spent over $15k getting three dental implants. But COST should not be an impediment in a country with "free" healthcare, eh?

What's the deal? Is dental care free in GB, Germany, France, etc.? And what about expensive stuff like implants? Also free?

Safe to say most Americans are more bark than bite DG????......~S~

There is no such thing as free. Someone, a lot of someones, is paying for it through other means.

Cosmetic surgery isn't free in countries with universal healthcare. Healthcare is covered. not appearances.

And save that "socialism" crap for the faithful. Most of us here know better.

And they don't have bad teeth they have healthy but crooked or yellowed teeth.

A Yank cliché.

Europeans spend more on dental hygiene than Americans. European teeth tend to nature coloured and most when kids have teeth straightened with braces etc..

Americans suffer severe vanity issues with teeth so they glue on laminated. The problem is, it encourages decay and with the obscene amount of sugar and chemicals in their diet, it's why Americans have a poor oral hygiene and decay levels.

The forum is littered with links to the above. Just like North Korea, Yanks are brought up on myths and propaganda.

Certainly in the UK, dental treatment is predominantly private, you pay. A registered NHS treatment dentist just means some of your dental care is subsidised. But again, that has already been explained on the forum.

Unfortunately, not many Yanks has and brain matter to stop information flying through one ear and out the other. It's also a subject outside of their borders, so many are fucked on that point too. Hence the list of Yank clichés in Badlands.

But in America, you run the risk of being denied a bank loan if your teeth are not false.

I have never met anyone with dental insurance in the US.

I had it for years and dropped it. Expensive and if you take care of your choppers you don't need it much other than cleanings (preventative).

The average dental insurance policy with comprehensive coverage costs $52 a month, according to our analysis. A preventive care plan costs an average of $26 a month. - Forbes

That's average and it's much more expensive as you age.

Two cleanings/one set of X-rays a year costs me around what a average policy would cost but I get a 3% discount for cash and $48 back from my regular .gov insurance (preventive health) so it's slightly cheaper.

Pro-Tip.....Ask your provider about a cash -vs- card discount, you might make check writing great again as YOU are the one paying the CC fee, not them. ;)

Only commies and socialists (politicians and government officials) get implants practically for free in marxists Europa.
Most of EU countries have two health care systems: one for taxpayers another one for commies (politicians, officials, presstitutes & Co)
While a normal citizens must pay around €3k for an implant an official pays less as €200. The difference bear governments.
