Dental Care under Socialized Medicine

I have often noticed that older European men, especially Brits, often have very bad teeth.

In the U.S., getting "cosmetic" improvements to one's "smile" is an expensive proposition, usually not covered by insurance. For example, I recently spent over $15k getting three dental implants. But COST should not be an impediment in a country with "free" healthcare, eh?

What's the deal? Is dental care free in GB, Germany, France, etc.? And what about expensive stuff like implants? Also free?

Cosmetic dental work in the UK is not free as far as i know, but i am registered with a NHS dentist and had to have a couple of fillings not long ago cost £26 here are the NHS Dental charges, i think it's great.
