Plenty of more free market oriented countries in Europe. Most notable of which is (and also the most successful country of Europe - by no accident): Switzerland. On average you are of course right. Europe is still much more divided than USA.

I would like to invite this malcontent to live in New York City and work as a teacher in a typical public school with a salary comparable to her present $61k. Then I want to hear what she has to say after one year. I can assure you she will be begging to return to the relative sanity and contentment of Denmark.

Don't be swayed by one negative opinion. The vast majority of Danish people, while they might complain about the high taxes, are quite content with their lives.
