Yes. The United States enjoys a HUGE number of benefits granted by the EU. US has bases, airfields, docking, refueling capabilities all granted to it as part of long standing treaties. If the EU reduced cooperation with the US the US would be isolated, a huge land mass on the other side of the world with no access to the economies and resources currently granted to it.

During the Gulf War the US had to rely on all of these resources, without them it's fucked in such wars.

Germany lacks the offensive capabilities to project power outside their own borders. End NATO and the Europeans all together might be a legitimate force in a decade or two, not now though.
