The British Government can do whatever it wants. It doesn't change the fact that the UK parliament has no jurisdiction over Canadian law.The British government can "advise" the King to do this and the King almost always follows that advice.
Go back to 1914 when Britain declared war, Canada automatically was at war. Not so in 1939.
