We have a Commerce Clause and a central bank; yet, the right wing prefers to eschew capitalism at every opportunity while alleging they are not really like that in socialism threads.I don’t need a novel posted....something short and simple works just fine....So you want your neighbor to pay for your child’s education, subsidize your income, and your rent etc and you want your neighbor to help cover your healthcare....Why/how does that seem like a reasonable request while you’re telling your neighbor you want more desperate people here from Mexico as well? Please explain this to us self sufficient folks that can’t wrap our heads around it.

The Mexican illegal immigration thing I do not think the Dems get at all, any nation needs to control it's borders and decide who can and cannot come in based on the national interest.

All insurance is a payment into a collective which spreads the risk, the collective says you make these payments and we will cover you with the payments all others made should you require health care, even cover you beyond what you payed in. Even private insurance covers the individual by spreading individual risk to the collective.
Universal health insurance (not state control of delivery) is that same principal only because the risk pool is universal the cost to both you and the collective is lower.

For the vast majority of people ACA is neither affordable or effective. Between the sky high deductibles and premiums the so called insurance doesn't pay jack for most people. Those individuals pay for their care out of pocket for the whole year before the insurance pays a dime.
You have to start with that stark reality when discussing the merits of ACA and not cherry pick the small minority with serious pre-existing conditions and serious health issues. Even they must first the premiums and sky high deductibles before the insurance kicks in.

Premiums are only lower when you get government money to help pay for them. They are unaffordable to people who don't qualify for getting Obamacare with the welfare provision

Insurance rates were increasing by about 15% annually, and were unaffordable before ACA.
I think ACA actually lowered them slightly, and the only increase came from those who did not buy insurance at all before, but now have to because of the penalty.

Again, premiums are only lower when there's a welfare government benefit included. They are expensive and unusable because of the high deductibles for most people.
It totally fucked me. I had a policy that I loved. It was high deductible and cheap for family coverage. Under Obamacare the premiums skyrocketed then they cancelled it completely.
