Victor Davis Hanson nails it again

Democrats underestimated Trump nominees Hegseth and Bondi

They expected a couple of lightweights that they could torment and abuse

Instead the dems virtually assured that Hegseth and Bondi will be the next Sec of Defense and Attorney General

Oops

Trump wins again

This reminds me of when Joe Biden and Teddy Boy Kennedy, 2 of the biggest horn dogs in Congress, were badgering Clarence Thomas on ethics. Frigging joke.

From the standpoint of experience Bondi is qualified to be AG. The troubling part of her testimony was that she promised independence from trump but didn't demonstrate it. And that many of her answers to uncomfortable questions were non-responsive dodges.

When asked a direct question about the outcome of the 2020 election (she's on the record as having worked to foment the Big Lie) she answered as though trump was sitting right behind her. Too afraid of what his reaction to the truth would be to tell it under oath.

If she can't answer a question during a confirmation hearing that would irritate him because it's the truth, why would we expect she would stand up to him in the Oval Office when asked to do something unethical or illegal?

Hegseth is another matter. He lacks the integrity and professional experience to be Sec. of Defense. All Repubs, including those of you on this board, know that. When I say he lacks integrity I don't just mean because of his excessive drinking, his marital infidelities, his abuse of women, or how his behavior caused him to be let go by the Koch sponsored vet groups he was put in charge of.

I mean because he didn't have enough regard for the country or respect for those who serve it in the military to decline trump's offer of running the DoD. A vital agency he has no business leading.

Just like Obama's wingman, the AG serves under the Executive.
Suck it, Stalinberg. :itsok:

How would she demonstrate that? Pose with with a fake bloody head of Trump like that hillarious liberal commediaenne? Sob and weep about Trump's 2024 victory, like a purple-haired college student or licensed network news talking head? She can be independent without being a Never Trumper.

If she believes that senior officials in the FBI and DOJ were lawbreakers who misused government resources to go after Trump unlawfully, picking a name and then looking for a crime, she will have them investigated with no pressure from Trump. If she believes that state and local prosecutors ran on a platform of "I've picked a name (TRUMP), elect me and I'll find a crime!" she would be derelict in her duties not to have her agents look into that.

For example, there is a mountain of evidence of Strozk and Page using tax-funded time and equipment to conspire to STOP TRUMP, while also using their FBI time and equipment to conduct an extra-marital affair. Why would she ever not have them investigated?

What about investigating employees of the FBI and DOJ for lying to Congress and holding back information from Congress? Why would a Representative or Senator from either party object to that? She doesn't need Trump to pressure her to do that. Any prosecutor who wants to preserve Democracy would do that.

Don't forget, she cannot convict anyone. They will have no consequences unless a jury of their peers finds them guilty. So, if by some stretch of the imagination, they are innocent, they have nothing to fear.

There's another party to this matter who lacks integrity. When the revelations of Pete's disqualifying behavior came out, to the surprise of Dotard's transition team, big fat Don should have acknowledged his mistake and withdrawn his nomination of Hegseth. Or asked Hegseth to withdraw.

But because the soon to be Felon-in-Chief never admits a mistake it appears the country will be saddled with someone who failed to competently run an organization a fraction of the size of the DoD.

How would she demonstrate that?
When asked about the 2020 election she could have said, "I regret my prior statements about the integrity of the election. As the facts have emerged I can say, unequivocally, there was no outcome determinant fraud. Furthermore, I am stating for the record I will not agree to prosecute any officer of the court involved in trump's criminal cases unless heretofore unknown information of misconduct emerges."

Her unwillingness to say those words tells us all we need to know about how she will conduct herself as AG. She'll be a felon's sock puppet.

Where in the Constitution does it say the DOJ or the AG are somehow independent of the President?

They are part of the executive branch, and all power in the Executive branch is Constitutionally given to the President. He only delegates it to the Cabinet and all subsequent posts.

She didn’t say that because she witnessed voter fraud in PA first hand. I guess she was just supposed to ignore that and bow to the crooked Democrats. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way.

A simple acknowledgement of reality would suffice. But she's been a trump loyalist all the way back to when trump's PAC made an illegal contribution to her campaign as a reward for her decision to drop out of the real estate school fraud case against him. He loves that shit.

Now her loyalty has extended to a refusal to confront the Orange Messiah with the truth about the 2020 election. He loves that shit too.

In March 2016, CREW discovered that the Trump Foundation had broken the law by giving an illegal $25,000 contribution to a political group supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Charitable foundations like the Trump Foundation are not allowed to engage in politics. Even more problematic was the fact that the contribution was given as Bondi’s office was deciding whether to take legal action related to Trump University.

Democrats don’t want to know the truth about the 2020 election. Here is to hoping that the fraud will finally be uncovered and changes can be made to our election system. Something as simple as reverting back to pre-COVID rules would suffice, but adding voter id requirements and in-person voting(with few exceptions) would be preferable. Democrats don’t want any part of that because it is too secure for their liking.

Maybe explain you conspiracy theory about the "revelations of Pete's disqualifying behavior".

What "revelations" would those be?

Hegseth and Bondi are absolutely qualified for their potential positions in the Executive Branch. Their job is to upset the apple cart. The bureaucracy has way too much power in this country. It's time that power was stripped away from the bureaucracy. Any of the career bureaucrats that don't like it can go fuck themselves while they go hunt up a private sector job.
