"Senate Democrats blocked legislation Wednesday aimed at boosting the scrutiny of some incoming refugees, after attempting to turn the debate into a referendum on immigration and Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

The Senate voted 55-43 to advance the measure, and fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance it to a final vote, leaving it effectively dead in the upper chamber. Democrats voted against the bill even though late last year it passed with a veto-proof, bipartisan majority in the House."

"Reid said Democrats would refrain from blocking the refugee screening bill only if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., would allow a vote on an amendment to "denounce Donald Trump's reprehensible proposal to impose a religious test on admission into the United States."

So Harry Reid tried to blackmail Congress into supporting an attack on a US Citizen to be included inside of a federal piece of federal legislation designed to make America safer. Reid and his fellow liberals put his / their partisan hatred for an American citizen and their disagreement with a private citizen's opinion / message ahead of this country's national security and protecting the lives of US citizens?!

The legislation had already passed in a BIPARTISAN VOTE, but Reid killed it because the GOP would not let a Federal Politician launch a personal/partisan attack against a US citizen inside of a federal piece of legislation...

:wtf:

That's pretty much all you need to know about Harry Reid and the progressive partisan liberals that have infected this nation's federal government, putting their own petty partisanship above the lives and security of this nation and its citizens. What a POS!

The current screening process has more than 20 steps to it and takes about 2 years.

What the Rs want to do is gut that.

The Rs are wrong.

Obama openly MOCKED Americans for their concern for our national security and their safety, declaring the worst they have to fear thanks to his 'perfect screening process' was 'widows and orphans'. Then he gave a terrorist a Visa, she entered the country, and she killed 12 Americans in California.

And Reid thinks it is worth holding this legislation - increasing our screening capability to protect Americans - was worth gambling with in an attempt to blackmail the GOP into accepting a personal/partisan attack on a U.S. citizen INSIDE of a federal piece of legislation.

That's f*ed up!

Obama claimed his system was so awesome Americans were left with nothing but widows and orphans to fear....until his screening process let in a terrorist who killed 12 Americans.

This BI-PARTISAN piece of legislation was designed to IMPROVE upon Obama's F*ED UP, ineffective, flawed process that allowed a terrorist to enter the country and kill Americans.... How can the GOP be wrong when Democrats JOINED THEM to pass this bill?!?

...but it failed to pass because the mean ol' GOP wouldn't let Harry reid abuse his federal government power / position by attacking a US CITIZEN inside of a federal piece of legislation!

This bill gutted NOTHING, LIAR. It was supposed to IMPROVE the system, and politicians on both sides agreed....until Reid decided to impose his own abusive partisan BS into the mix, getting the much-needed improvements killed.

I'd like to offer a notion you may not be considering.

These days, with the divide on Washington...either side, will reject legislation the other side proposes out of hand...without regard to it's possible benefit simply to block the other side.

I'd have to look more to see if that's the case here, but it happens quite a bit

Not to this extent.

Harry Reid has CRIMINALLY abused his power, especially as Senate majority Leader, to personally attack US citizens from the floor of the Senate! He, an elected govt official paid to do the people's business, attacked Romney from the Floor of the Senate when Romney, a citizen, ran for President. Reid even LIED and SLANDERED Romney from the floor of the Senate. AFTER the election he was asked why he did it - he answered, "It worked, didn't it?!' For this criminal / abusive behavior Reid was not punished.

Now Reid derails a BIPARTISAN piece of legislation designed to make Americans safer because the GOP won't allow him to insert a personal / partisan attack on a US citizen inside of a piece of legislation?! B$! don't even try to justify Reid's actions by saying, 'The GOP has done this, too'!

FBI admits there's no way to screen all the Syrian refugees the Obama administration plans to accept into the US
  • Agency director James Comey tells House Committee on Homeland Security that the coming influx of 10,000 Syrian refugees cannot be thoroughly screened
  • Obama administration has said it would accept that many refugees because of the deteriorating security situation in Syria
  • Comey tells committee that Syrians who are not already in the FBI's database cannot be checked
  • More on the influx of Syrian refugees: www.dailymail.co.uk/refugeecrisis

FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday told Congress that the federal government cannot conduct thorough checks on all of the coming influx of 10,000 refugees from Syria.

Appearing before the House Committee on Homeland Security, Comey said Syrians who aren't already in the FBI's database are unknown to the agency, meaning their backgrounds cannot be adequately scoured for a risk of terrorism.

'We can only query against that which we have collected,' Comey told the committee under questioning.

'So if someone has never made a ripple in the pond in Syria in a way that would get their identity or their interest reflected in our database, we can query our database until the cows come home, but there will be nothing show up because we have no record of them.

FBI Director James Comey said his agency is helpless to search the backgrounds of Syrian refugees if they are not already in its database because of suspected past terrorist activity or other crimes

President Obama announced in early September that the US would allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into America, although it has only allowed the entry of 1,854 refugees from that country over the past four years

This picture from June shows a Syrian man trying to lift a child over a broken border fence into Turkey. The Syrian civil war has created a total of 4 million refugees fleeing the fighting

A flood of 4 million refugees have fled the fighting in Syria during the four-year-old civil war, with the situation reaching a crisis level in recent months.

President Obama announced in September that the U.S. will allow up to 10,000 refugees, a far greater total than the 1,854 that has been allowed to date during the four-year war.

Republicans have criticized the plan, since it could potentially allow an influx of ISIS-trained militants posing as refugees - a possibility Comey essentially endorsed on Wednesday.

But the concerns have also crossed party lines. On Wednesday, for example, Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, a Democrat, said there is widespread worry over the agency's limits.

'A lot of us are concerned about whether you have enough information available to you to do an accurate vetting,' Thompson said.

'You can only query what you’ve collected,' Comey responded.

FBI admits there's no way to screen all incoming Syrian refugees

So the FBI is telling the President of the United States there is no way to screen all these 'refugees', and 'you' are jeopardizing our national security and the lives of American citizens by ignoring these warnings (like he and Hillary ignored the Benghazi warnings) and brining them into the country - from a civil-war-torn nation where people hate us - anyway...

....and Obama is good with that!

Too bad 12 Americans had to die to prove it, not that he gave a damn about any of them. Didn't slow Barry and his plans down one bit.
