From the 1940's to the 1980's my father was a union pipefitter; for decades, he and other white working-class men formed the backbone of the Democratic party. Recently however, in their headlong quest to become more minority friendly, the white working-class man has been largely ignored or at least taken for granted by today's Democratic party. As a result, many have drifted over to the GOP, and though the conservative agenda's management friendly / labor hating platform has been economically detrimental to the white working-class men, they at least have found a more understanding and sympathetic audience under the GOP tent. Democratics....you should be running away with elections, but you're shooting yourselves in the foot here. Stop treating white working-class men as 2nd class citizens and treat them with the respect they deserve - or you'll continue to lose them!
