Senate Democrats want an extension to expiring Obamacare subsidies, which were enhanced when Senate Democrats controlled the upper chamber under President Joe Biden and are set to expire by the end of this year.

Schumer accused congressional Republicans of being unwilling to solve the problem, despite overtures from Senate Republicans that they'd be open to have a vote on the matter.

"What kind of country do we live in? What kind of party is this Republican Party that is unwilling to solve this problem, which is staring Americans in the face, frightening Americans from one end of the country to the other," Schumer said. "And yet Republicans, what are they doing about it? Nothing. They're on vacation. It's unacceptable and morally repugnant."

Look, I know this issue very well. And I got to be honest, maybe it is time to let them additional subsidies go. On paper, yes, it looks catastrophic, but in reality, consumers will adapt and substitute. And yes, it will have a cost impact to them from the first dollar. I think the real problem is the Medicaid cuts. That is going to have a very real, and significant impact, on state budgets. That was the whole Thom Tillis thing. Give him a hat tip.

The reality, the Republican party, especially in the House, are a bunch of misfits, clowns, fools, forgive the honesty. They didn't play well back in preschool, they sure as hell don't play well now. I mean it is a hot mess. I mean Santos? How the **** does that happen?

No, the mid-terms need to be a purge, of all the Trump ass-lickers. There should be no other target, no other talking point. Neuter his ass. Flip the House and the Senate, veto proof majorities. Look, I just got to say, the whole healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants is a load of horseshit. First, and I have no problem documenting it, just use a little AI. Spending on illegal immigrants amounts to one percent, ONE ******* PERCENT, of Medicaid spending. You seriously believe that is what this is about? How big of a fool do you want to appear?
 
Hopefully the govt. is shut down until the midterms. I am confident the country will go from Liberal Fatigue to Liberal Exhaustion and after the midterms the GOP will have more than 60 seats and can pass whatever budget they want.

If that's what Democrats really want then fight for it to be included in whatever appropriations bills are passed. It has no reason to be included in a CR to keep the government open temporarily while the long term financial issues are hammered out.

This shutdown is really stupid and dangerous but everything Democrats do these days seems to be that way. It's hard to believe they still refuse to open government up.

The point is, you can't ***** about paying taxes. You choose to do so. And yes, taxes really are, for the most part, voluntary. My oldest son makes real bank. But he is tighter than a drum and he hates to pay taxes. 401K, contributes the maximum allowable every year. Roth, contributes the maximum, every year. HSA, same thing, maximum. If he can stash a dollar somewhere, and not pay taxes on it, he is there.

Last I heard, there were no independents in the Senate. All were either Rep or Dem. You should ask somebody that is a party person.
