Democrat Witness at Senate Hearing Says He Is Unsure If Illegal Immigration Is a Crime in Exchange with Sen. Bernie Moreno

Dante: Not all crimes are equal. D'Oh!

"Illegal immigration is not a felony crime by default; it is primarily handled as a civil offense, though specific actions can be misdemeanors or felonies under federal law"

Yet,
Donald J. Trump was convicted on many felony counts, with some people claiming them as not "real crimes"
Yet as you said, they are still crimes.
For Troll Hollie

Nobody, not a Judge, not a Jury, not a Prosecutor or Defense lawyer believes all crimes are equal in the sense you people-of-the-cult try to portray it.

Collectively illegals have cost the US billions, I'd say that's a pretty big crime, since it all was well organized and every participant is responsible for that.

Collectively illegals pay billions in taxes

AI Overview
Undocumented immigrants in the U.S. paid an estimated $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP). This includes $59.4 billion in federal taxes and $37.3 billion in state/local taxes, with significant contributions to Social Security and Medicare despite lacking eligibility for most benefits.

Key Tax Contribution Data (2022):
Total Taxes: $96.7 billion combined federal, state, and local taxes.

Payroll Taxes: $25.7 billion for Social Security and $6.4 billion for Medicare.

Unemployment Insurance: $1.8 billion.

State & Local Breakdown: Includes sales, excise, and property taxes ($37.3 billion total).

Impact and Context:
High Contributions: Six states (California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey) each receive over $1 billion in tax revenue from undocumented residents.

Per Person Impact: On average, undocumented immigrants pay roughly $8,889 in taxes per person annually.

Tax Compliance: Many use Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs) to file income taxes.

Economic Effect: If granted work authorization, tax contributions could increase significantly due to higher wages and better compliance.

For example, in California alone, undocumented immigrants contribute approximately $8.5 billion in state and local taxes annually.

Lots of cut and paste nonsense that has nothing to do with the thread topic.

Silly spammer.

It's a civil offense not criminal, the first time crossing unless the govt takes them to court and charges them with a misdemeanor and wins. Asylum seekers meeting preliminary criteria are not criminals, until they've been denied asylum in a court hearing, and refused to leave. And they are not criminals if they applied through the parole program.....unless they break the parole agreement rules.

So yeah, it isn't one simple yes or no answer.
They're criminals.
I have a suggestion:
Why don't you put a sign on your door reading, "All Strangers Welcome. Come On In and Help Yourself!", unlock the door, set out some food and your credit cards and some cash and then leave for a few days and see what you come home to.
Hypocrite.

I think my number is bigger and illegals are sucking up resources for schools, medical and law enforcement, local, State and federal. Also they are driving up housing and insurance costs.

Nonsense, millions of imported illegals creates housing demand thus driving up prices.

    • Total Costs: Some analyses, such as those from the House Committee on the Budget (.gov), estimate the annual cost of illegal immigration to taxpayers at over $150 billion. Another estimate from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) places this cost at $182 billion
    • Per-Person Impact:
The cost per illegal alien or U.S.-born child of illegal aliens is estimated at roughly $8,776 annually
      .
    • Net Fiscal Impact: While they pay taxes, reports note they often consume more in public services than they pay in taxes, particularly at the state and local levels, leading to a net fiscal drain.

¡Ay ay ay no creo que esta mujer pueda entender Español!

¡La entrada ilegal no es la única forma de inmigración ilegal porque hay matices!
So no, you still don’t understand that illegal entry into the US is a federal violation.

FAIR?
FAIR leaders have ties to white supremacist groups and eugenicists and have made many racist statements. Its advertisements have been rejected because of racist content. FAIR’s founder, the late John Tanton, has expressed his wish that America remain a majority-white population: a goal to be achieved, presumably, by limiting the number of nonwhites who enter the country. One of the group’s main goals is upending the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which ended a decades-long, racist quota system that limited immigration mostly to northern Europeans. FAIR President Dan Stein has called the Act a “mistake.”

In Their Own Words

“Immigrants don’t come all church-loving, freedom-loving, God-fearing … Many of them hate America, hate everything that the United States stands for. Talk to some of these Central Americans.” – FAIR President Dan Stein, interviewed by Tucker Carlson, Oct. 2, 1997

“Do we leave it to individuals to decide that they are the intelligent ones who should have more kids? And more troublesome, what about the less intelligent, who logically should have less? Who is going to break the bad news [to less intelligent individuals], and how will it be implemented?” – John Tanton, letter to eugenicist Robert K. Graham (now deceased), Sept. 18, 1996
