Democrats Panic As Egg Prices Continue to Drop

Democrats Panic As Egg Prices Continue to Drop

17 Mar 2025 ~~ By Matt Margolis

Remember when Democrats thought soaring egg prices would be the silver bullet to take down President Trump? Their plan just scrambled spectacularly. After hitting a wallet-busting peak of $8.17 per dozen in early March — the continuation of an upward trend from the Biden presidency — egg prices have plummeted below $4.

Despite this plunge in egg prices, the mainstream media is desperately trying to keep that information from reaching your breakfast table.
The New York Times also reported on the price of eggs last week, ignoring the sharp decline in prices by only citing February data. "Egg prices continued their upward climb in February despite some easing in overall inflation,” the paper reported, “further straining consumers seeking relief from rising prices in the grocery aisles."
Newsweek also reported on Monday that eggs are now being smuggled into the United States from Mexico due to high prices.

Let's crack open some truth here: The media is playing a shell game with the American people. They're deliberately focusing on outdated February comparisons while ignoring March's dramatic price decline. Even when they acknowledge the recent decline in prices, they are finding ways to dismiss it. Why? Because they can't bear to admit that egg prices are now lower than the average levels we saw at the start of Trump’s term because it undermines the one effective talking point Democrats thought they had.
But the Democrats' attempt to use egg prices as a political weapon has backfired spectacularly. Just like everything else in their playbook, this narrative has cracked under the weight of actual facts.
The mainstream media won't tell you the whole story about falling egg prices—or anything else. Want unfiltered truth about Biden's economic disaster and Trump's solutions?

Commentary:
The Democrat's premise: “We couldn’t get egg prices down therefore it can’t be done”..
It’s no great surprise that prices would drop again. After killing of the laying hens, it would be six or seven months before the replacement hens were old enough to lay, thus re-starting the egg supply.
Guess the Dems aren’t strutting about like roosters on this one. Nothing to crow about any longer.

Sorry bout that,

1. Quick Dems, kill some more chickens!

We're not talking about Cadbury Eggs.

No new outbreaks of the bird flu that has ravaged chicken stocks in the U.S. have been detected in weeks. After surging for much of the year, egg prices have declined sharply over the past week as consumers pulled back on purchases, allowing supplies to resettle at more normal volumes.4 days ago

Egg prices are falling, with a dozen now less than $5

IOW, exactly what I said would happen.

for starters he hasn't killed 100 million laying hens ..
So it sounds like the bird flu infection has been brought under control so he hasn't had to.
Trump didn't have anything to do with bringing the bird flu epidemic under control. That was the administration before him.

Your colossal ignorance on all topics you chime in on is simply amazing. Expected, but still amazing.

Here, I brought it in video form so you don’t have to read and hurt your peace brain.

Spin away…….cant wait for your dumbassery. :auiqs.jpg:

As usual Nostril you don't really have a very good handle on what you're trying to discuss here. Maybe if you would try actually reading things instead of just being spoon fed pro Trump talking points by the cult you'd be better informed.
Here's the funniest part of this whole, worthless OP. The idea that anybody is "panicking" because egg prices are coming down is predicated on the assumption that egg prices are really coming down, which they aren't.
The Trump administration simply announced that the Felon in Chief thinks he has a plan that might bring down egg prices, that's all.
And right on cue all you witless lemmings start circle jerking in celebration as if the plan has already produced results, which it hasn't.
And besides even if this plan works, which it probably won't, it isn't even Trump's plan.
It's Biden's you moron.
The only "plan" Trump has come up with for lowering egg prices is a continuation of what is already in place from the previous administration.
You LOSE again fool!

Why It’s an Unlikely Solution

For one, the U.S. doesn’t export very many eggs in the first place. In 2022, only 1.7 percent of all U.S.-produced eggs were exported to other countries according to industry figures, so any reduction in exports would have a minimal effect on the overall availability of eggs in the United States.

The same goes for imports. CBS News reports that the Trump administration is in talks to import between 70 and 100 million eggs from outside the country over the next few months.

That might sound like a lot, but the U.S. produces between 8 and 9 billion eggs domestically every month. This means that even if the Trump administration imported twice as many eggs as it intends to, it wouldn’t amount to even one percent of the eggs produced in the U.S. over the same period of time.

The Bottom Line

There’s reason to doubt the efficacy of these measures. But it’s also worth acknowledging that, flawed as the USDA’s plan might be, it’s not as if there’s some other obvious solution to the bird flu outbreak that the administration is leaving on the table. This is the longest and deadliest bird flu outbreak in history, and the measures that worked in the past simply aren’t working now.

But ultimately, the only reason egg prices are a matter of national concern is because Americans want to keep eating eggs. Despite the fact that the modern poultry industry has essentially remade the animal population on the planet and been a disaster for animal welfare, the average American eats around 280 eggs a year. Until this changes, the amount of money in Americans’ pockets will be impacted by the current state of highly pathogenic avian flu viruses.

Sorry bout that,

1. Right kill more egg layers, all but two dozen chickens, see where this goes.

The idea that Democrats don't want to pay less for eggs, to the point on panicking about it, is the dumbest fucking thing that I've ever heard.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. This more lethal strain of the bird flu is just getting started. It may end up decimating wild birds population worldwide plus the mutation factor is high in this strain. It could affect livestock next. Best to become a vegetarian now.

when are these spoiled white rich liberal kids going to start robbing egg trucks ?

You know that bird flu can spread through other animals like cows and horses to humans.
And Trump isn't even talking about it as a possible pandemic.
Or making plans or preparations for a jump to people.
So letting bird flu run unchecked through the domestic chicken population, and we might end up with another COVID disaster.

Well....since it started being in the news in 2023, why don't we just use the plan that the Biden administration already had in place when Trump took office?

How are vaccines made?

There are a broad range of different types of vaccine, but one thing they usually have in common is that they are inherently biological. That means that often their ingredients need to be grown.

Since vaccines are biological products, most conventional viral vaccines need to be grown on biological material, such as chicken eggs

Talk about a double whammy if we need to use eggs to make a bird flu vaccine.

Farming Pharma – 100 million eggs yearly for flu vaccines

If there's competition for a limited resource. Guess what happens to the price of eggs?
