The creator behind the proposal to issue $5,000 "DOGE dividend" stimulus checks to American taxpayers has updated the eligibility requirements.

James Fishback recently clarified the eligibility requirements, saying anyone who files a federal income tax return and pays federal income tax would qualify.

"If you file a federal income tax return—if you pay federal income tax, which is to say that you worked—you would receive a DOGE dividend check. That individual and their household would benefit from this payment," Fishback told Steve Ram on Ram's podcast.

Have to look at the fine print to know if people who worked and paid taxes, but got back more than they paid in as part of the "refundable tax credit" will be eligible. That would leave many Democrats out.

To balamce the debt, taxes cannot be reduced. Programs need to be thoughfully cut. Something has to be done about Social Security and Medicare.
Increase the age you are elgible

That is the biggest problem with all government programs.
There are people who will go after funds not intended for them. They are takers. They will take all they can and give as little as possible. They are in all demographics and income levels.

SBA funds
Corporate tax loop holes
on and on
If we could get rid of that scum we would be in much better shape

Every single President (from both parties) for the last 70 years has sworn to cut waste in the Federal Government.

Stop wanting free stuff. Make your own way in life. If the government offers an incentive for those that contribute more in a society, then don't be jealous of it, but instead try to one day position yourself into a position where you can take advantage of a tax break that is given for yourself.

That is the answer that I would expect. I was a traditionally conservative Republican for many years. I heard every GOP president and every GOP presidential candidate talk about reducing the fraud and waste inherent in our bloated government.

Then, administration after administration, I saw them do little if anything about that Fraud Waste and Abuse. Jimmy Carter was the first president that I heard use that phrase. I understood that he was a big tax/big borrow/big print/big spend Democrat and that his claims to be able to find savings by eliminating Fraud Waste and Abuse were but a smoke screen for continuing the spending spree. I was in high school, and I understood that.

It took me a while to understand that the Republicans were actually doing the same thing. Spending bill after spending bill, they passed, allowing as much wasteful spending as the Democrats wanted to shove into each, so long as the Democrats allowed them their own pork. As far as I know, every member of what the left media called "the Clown Car," i.e. the opponents of Donald Trump in the 2016 primary were Republicans who had done that, and gave no indication that they would not continue to do that. Rand Paul was arguably something of an exception.

Taking the most notable person who has been described as a member of the Trump administration who got rich by taking from the government, Elon Musk: Whose fault was it that people purchasing Teslas were heavily subsidized by the government eager to promote electric vehicles? Musk, or the people voted for and signed off on spending bills with those subsidies?

Must members of the administration to have a pure record of never taking government subsidies? Given the amount of money the government takes from successful people such as Elon Musk, how realistic is it to expect that they did not take opportunities to get some back? I'd prefer to elect a lawmaker with a pure record of never passing a spending bill that robbed the middle class and gave to the rich, and/or robbed the middle class to pay for programs that keep the poor poor.
