Democrats Erupt Over Trump's Iran Strikes

“The dominant reaction from the Left to Trump’s bombing of Iran has been to declare the action illegal, reckless, and unconstitutional.”
28 Feb 2026 ~~ By Ben Smith

Shortly after President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iran, the Left locked into a single talking point: illegal war. Reckless. Idiotic. Betrayal. Forever war. Constitutional crisis. Pick your adjective.
The speed and uniformity were almost impressive.
Sen. Tim Kaine led the charge, and he did not ease into it. In a graphic posted to X, Kaine asked whether Trump was “too mentally incapacitated” to understand that the United States once had a diplomatic agreement with Iran. He declared the strikes a “colossal mistake” and demanded the Senate immediately return to vote on his War Powers Resolution to block U.S. forces from hostilities without congressional approval.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris jumped in next, accusing Trump of “dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want” and opposing what she called a “regime-change war in Iran.”
Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren quickly declared that “Trump’s war against Iran is illegal and a betrayal of the American people,” warning that Congress cannot allow him to drag another generation into a “forever war.”

The through-line is unmistakable. Democratic leadership has settled on a narrative that Trump’s Iran strikes constitute an illegal war, that Congress alone has the exclusive authority to authorize such action, and that this is the opening act of another Middle East quagmire.
That narrative only intensified when New York City Mayor Zoharan Mamdani weighed in. He described the strikes as a “catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression,” accused the United States and Israel of bombing cities and killing civilians, and assured Iranian New Yorkers that they would be safe in his city.
Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit…

Those comments stand out precisely because they are exceptions. The dominant reaction from the Left to Trump’s bombing of Iran has been to declare the action illegal, reckless, and unconstitutional, and to demand immediate congressional intervention through a War Powers Resolution.
Whether Congress will actually move to block continued hostilities remains to be seen. What is certain is that the political war over Trump’s Iran strikes is already in full swing. The words are sharp. The accusations are severe. And if today’s reaction is any indication, the constitutional battle over executive war powers is about to become the next front in America’s ongoing political war.

Commentary:
Democrats would call any new government that is pro western and promotes free enterprise and personal freedoms as corrupt. The left always supports the totalitarian solution particularly is they are hostile to Jews and Christians.
Meanwhile, Democrats never blinked when Obama ordered targeted drone strikes in the Middle East and surrounding regions, which killed four U.S. citizens in Yemen and Pakistan between 2011 and 2015. While only one, Anwar al-Alwaki, was explicitly targeted, the others, including his teenage son, were killed in strikes, causing significant legal and ethical debate over due process.
Democrats say Trump shouldn't be messing with Obama’s legacy – The pallets of cash, the Faux JCPOA all which will made Iran prosperous.
If you hadn't noticed – that explains the Democrats objections. Those are objections are what Democrats truly believe.
Unfortunately, while the current conflict is unfolding in February and March 2026, similar criticisms were leveled against Trump following an earlier round of strikes in June 2025.
Democrats have defunded DHS. Add Islamic nuclear terrorists to illegal aliens, criminals and transgender killers to the list of groups Democrats prioritize over Americans. Not to mention Obama is 100% and presidents before him are responsible for this war.
Obama specifically aided and abetted the Ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions.

They didnt even give it any time. No time to see the effect on the Tyranical regeime of Iran. They are bent on showing Dis - unity. The only ones this helps would be the IRGC and the Ayatollas.

The truth is, yeah, it is an "illegal," war, just like all the wars the DNC has started.

There is no clear casus belli.

IMO, Trump can get around this by making the claim that it isn't an illegal war. . .

. . . it is an "undocumented," war.

:auiqs.jpg:
We should call Trump's deportations undocumented removals.... :D

Every post here is a bunch of bullshit.

If Harris were president an had done this, you guys would be talking ---- about another forever war. So you can take your trump dick slurping and stick it. If Obama or Biden had felt this was wise, they would have done it. But this moron has started a war to take everybody away from the fact that his punk --- is a pedophile.

Now 3 Americans are dead because Captain Bone Spurs wants to play tough guy. If he has a problem with Iran, he needs to contact his buddy Dana White and organize a MMA fight with one of the Mullahs. Leave innocent American soldiers out of this.

I have been watching some of these missile strikes via social media. Damn what a weird world we live in, this would not even be possible 30 years ago.

Regardless, from what I have seen, and I am no rocket scientist or military expert; the Iranians appear to be using a unique cluster missile approach in a slow moving pattern to draw the iron dome resources, then one of the missiles (or a trailer, it is impossible to know from what I have seen), fires out and down to the target.

Multiple Israeli videos from people with perhaps too much experience seeing the iron dome succeed have taken camera footage. Some are suggesting they are hypersonic but I am confident that it is not. This technology has to be one of Chinese, Russian or Iranian made and there are going to be multiple landings of missiles unless they take out the source. This was in Jerusalem, multiple videos from people on their balconey.

If I had a family there I would be sleeping in a safe bunker until this is over or Israel eliminates the source. Some missiles appear to also be intentionally (so it has been suggested) targeting the siren alert system which would put citizens at risk.

This is real war. Let us hope the Iranian people rise up and become coordinated to reclaim their government or this could last awhile with unnecessary deaths.

I pray for the innocent.

Funny how the ONLY DEMOCRAT with a functioning brain right now is Fetterman. He stated this morning correctly that President Trump had a totally legal basis for ordering the attack on Iran. The Dramacrats are doing the only thing they can do. Marvel at the leader that they will never be while squealing like pigs.
