Dem Senator Facing Possible Logan Act Charges Over Attempt to Free MS-13 Linked Deportee

Oh come on. The Logan Act was passed in the 18th Century and has never been used to convict anybody in its 226 year history. I think one guy was charged with it once but was never prosecuted.

I ridiculed Democrats who were trying to get President Trump convicted using that act. I ridicule the ridiculousness and anti-Americanism of Van Hollen putting the welfare of an MS-13 wife beating gang member ahead of the welfare of the American people, but we can do better than bring up the Logan Act to accused him.
because he did something terrible to MAGATs?

Saul Alinsky lives within all Progressive Socialist Communists. You have cheapened life and yet made it more expensive. you protest yet do not want to pay for all of your programs.
The fucking kid was shipped off to prison for comitting no crime, how in the fuck would you like to be treated in a manner as such?

Not playing that game. You can comment on what I actually posted or find some other childish activity to do please.
You don't make the rules of the game. Yer kingly-dingly made a bad move, and it will haunt him, and when the lawsuits come from abuse of civil rights, I hope they will make Trump pay with his own money, because Trump knows he is breaking the law, and you support this criminality.

Cite exactly how Trump is breaking the law.

I applaud the courage and valid-Americanism of Van Hollen putting the welfare of an immigrant as a part of protectying welfare of the American people and all citizens subject to the US.

Dem Senator Facing Possible Logan Act Charges Over Attempt to Free MS-13 Linked Deportee

18 Apr 2025 ~~ By Jason Walsh

Senator Chris Van Hollen is facing accusations of violating the Logan Act after his recent trip to El Salvador to lobby for the release of MS-13-linked illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
The U.S. law from 1799 is aimed at preventing unauthorized foreign negotiations.
Prior to Abrego Garcia’s deportation, courts ruled there was “sufficient” evidence he was linked to the violent gang MS-13.
Despite the overwhelming evidence of Abrego Garcia’s gang ties, Democrats have attempted to paint him as an innocent Maryland father of three.
However, they failed to mention his dubious past, which includes domestic violence allegations from his wife.
On Monday, Van Hollen said:
“Kilmar Abrego Garcia never should have been abducted and illegally deported, and the courts have made clear: the Administration must bring him home, now.”
“However, since the Trump Administration appears to be ignoring these court mandates, we need to take additional action.”
“That’s why I’ve requested to meet with President Bukele during his trip to the United States, and — if Kilmar is not home by midweek — I plan to travel to El Salvador this week to check on his condition and discuss his release.”
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung and border czar Tom Homan slammed Van Hollen’s actions, calling them inappropriate.
Political consultant Roger Stone also noted that Van Hollen’s actions could result in prosecution under the Logan Act.

Commentary:
"It's not a crime when a Democrat does it." Only when they are people aligned with Trump.
Nothing will happen to the "Fine Gentleman from Maryland", Senator Van Hollen.
Of course, Van Hollen is now violating The Logan Act.
But he, just as with John Kerry, does not think he will suffer any negative consequences for doing it. None.
A few caustic remarks from the GOP is not a real consequence.
Van Hollen figures, the Trump Admin talks tough, but they don’t seem to actually prosecute anybody other than former gang members.
Pam Bondi should make an example of the great Senator from Maryland and indict him.
Despite never being enforced, the Logan Act remains in effect to this day and is often mentioned in political contexts.
Time to put up or shut up.

Or, how low can Trump go?

Why do democrats champion a wife beater and gang member who is in the U.S. illegally? They haven't done anything right since they engaged in the big lie about Biden's mental health.

You are as dingy as Biden if you think all that.

Problem with a lot of this is that it seems that "wearing a Chicago Bulls top" and "driving a car with multiple people without luggage" is "proof" for being a gang member.

Not the proof that was used. Sorry your feelings duped you again.

Talking to a prisoner doesn't come anywhere close to being "foreign policy".
On the contrary. Trying to get a foreign prisoner that the US deported to be able to leave prison and reenter the country where he is clearly barred from returning by the administration is dabbling in the said administration's US foreign policy, hence, a violation of the Logan Act..

Garcia is a man, not a policy. You've only convinced yourself.
