DC school system has to take over parenting even more during sports events.

Everything seems to be about competition.
Win, be the best, strive hard, outwork everyone, win win win,. Society needs a break from this mindset.
There's that, but behavior also can be influenced by rewards and punishments, as well as acceptance or disapproval of your peers. We have always had bad people, but most people had at least some guidance growing up. In other words, before the monster could develop there were family and the system in place to curb the growth. Now there is nothing, the monster flower is allowed to grow unimpeded by the legal system and fertilized by social media until it is mature. Society needs to relearn that it cannot fix everyone, and that there is such a thing as personal responsibility.

We are talking about a sporting event. Its ONLY a game. Play hard yes. But the end result is NO MORE than that. I wonder if all the emphasis the nation now places on sports is having negative effects. I remember years ago watching 7 year olds play softball and the parents are yelling and screaming at the kids and coaches. These were 7 year olds for gosh sakes. It IS VERY OK to play hard AND LOSE.

My counterpoint is that the problem as described isn't with those on the field who are doing their best to outwork everyone and are striving hard to win, win, win. And it is my guess that we can also exclude the majority that came to the game with a genuine interest in taking in an athletic contest. The article concerns itself with out-of-control attendees.

It happens at more places than athletic events, malls aren't safe anymore

More white racist bs.

Pardon?

I didn't realize that there were a lot of white racists involved in the District school system. Maybe its time for President Trump to depose the sitting school board members in favor of some who might be more even handed.

Now now it has to be white racism

People are upset because of trying to address people fighting at games?

If the fans can't behave, just have the games played behind closed doors with no spectators permitted.

Easy peasy.

Great post. Cant agree more. Cant just go and cheer? Then one cant attend. Sadly some of the worst offenders are the parents. Another thing that gets wasaay out of hand is screaming derogatory things at officials. Especially at basketball games. Now its getting hard to find refs and people wonder why. Its out of control in my opinion.

Maybe they will but they will take first steps first.

And people are going to condemn?

I doubt those who do even have a clue what they are condemning. They just "feel" like they should.

I second this. Negative occurrences can happen during award shows too. Taylor Swift was not able to enjoy her first MTV award in 2009 thanks to those in favor of an act that she beat for the win.

God bless you and Taylor always!!!

We are talking about a meaningless game. A football game is only a game. Competition breeds hostility if overdone. Thats unacceptable.
only for little leftist pussys like you,,
