Day 2: nobody's starved

But, you said they "need" it.....No they don't...They NEED to get a job, and start to be productive citizens.
It looks like the vast majority are children, seniors, or already working.
Work RequirementsIf you are age 16-59 and able to work, you will probablyneed to meet work requirements to get SNAP. To meetthe general work requirements, you will need to:• Register for work.• Not voluntarily quit a job or reduce your hours.• Take a job if offered.• Participate in employment and training or workfareprograms, if assigned by the state. If you are age 18-54, able to work, and don’t have anydependents, you might need to meet both the generalwork requirements and an additional work requirementto get SNAP for more than 3 months in 3 years. Thisadditional work requirement is called the “time limit.” Youcan meet this additional work requirement by working(paid or unpaid) or participating in a qualifying workprogram — or any combination of the two — for anaverage of 80 hours every month. You can also meet theadditional work requirement if you participate in workfareprograms.People who do not have to meet the time limit include:SSA.gov• Children younger than 18.• Adults older than 54.• Veterans.• People experiencing homelessness.• People 24 or younger and in foster care on their18th birthday.• People who are caring for a child or incapacitatedfamily member.• People who are pregnant.• People who are exempt for physical or mental healthreasons.

Its hard for a single mom with many babies, the 30 yr old grandmother helping is not always enough. Cooking, cleaning, diapers, shopping. How? The men stop by, they want some more. No car? You can't carry babies and bags on a bus.

I do not have the answers. Free delivery from Walmart?
Well as the woman has trouble managing ONE baby, just maybe she will take precautions NOT to have more. Or at least to have them with responsible males (note I DIDN'T say men, someone who doesn't support his children is not a man)

So, it sounds like you're mad that a work requirement is being attached....?

I don't think that people are against those that need a helping hand to weather a particular situation in their life that causes them to struggle. We are a compassionate nation, and would absolutely say that is what the program is for.

But, it is these people who plan to make that a career, or those gems that have come on social media talking about it like this is their right to have others through taxation support them, or they're gonna steal it....**** them.

No, I am pointing out there looks to be a work requirement already for those who cannot work. If it is being scammed, that needs to be fixed.

Agreed. Thats what I am talking about.

I feel for the single mothers having kids they have no ability to care for. And the boyfriends that come by wanting "more" and eating the kids EBT stash.
I don't "feel for them", they made their own problem.

Inexplicably, the Dems used a welfare recipient who's been on SNAP for 30 YEARS as a sob story:

No, I am pointing out there looks to be a work requirement already for those who cannot work. If it is being scammed, that needs to be fixed.
.

Simply wrong. If an individual has a statement from a qualified health care practitioner to the affect that they are not capable of working, the requirement is lifted.

Do some research.

I used to live in the ghetto and knew these folks personally.

.

SNAP benefits "aka the gravy train" came to an end yesterday (at least, the federally funded benefits did). States have had to step up and perhaps - will even have to eliminate a bit of their bureaucracy in order to keep payments flowing.

As best I can tell:
1. Nobody has starved yet (despite doom and gloom predicted from the democrats)

2. Chuck Schumer is still responsible for this government shutdown.
Let's be honest, most of those Dem SNAP recipients are in no danger of starving. Snapping an elevator cable maybe, but they could live off their fat reserves for a couple of months minimum.

In fiscal year 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated that 11.7 percent of SNAP benefits, amounting to approximately $10.5 billion, were paid out improperly, with fraud contributing to a portion of these losses through recipient and retailer violations.

Every dollar of SNAP benefits lost to fraud generates an additional $3.72 in costs for agencies, primarily from identity fraud, account takeovers, eligibility misrepresentation, and EBT card trafficking.

Agreed.
Then we agree....Good.

If they are truly not capable of working, they should starve?
You're arguing to fix the system or end the system?

Government should fix that, yes?
