It all goes back to JFK. The lone gunman is always preferred and in this case the will to ignore so many reports of a shootout with a female suspect that survived is strong. If this is ultimately ignored, it is up to the media to require a detailed explanation for numerous articles such as this.

He said a woman had been taken into custody after she was observed by police carrying a camouflaged bag, which she put into a car that then sped off. The vehicle was stopped by police and they were currently questioning two occupants, Brown said.

Earlier, police said that a suspect had been taken into custody after a shootout, and the bomb squad was examining a suspicious package found near the location of that suspect.

Brown told the news conference, however that he did not have a "complete comfort level that we have all the suspects," and that a rigorous search of the downtown area was continuing.

The police chief said the shootings appeared to be coordinated and planned, as the moves displayed a knowledge of the rally's intended path through the city and an attempt to "triangulate" police.

But he said he was leaving the possible motive wide open as to "how this happened, why it happened."

I doubt that LaPierre had trained infantry soldiers who go berserk in mind when he said that.

Oh, but it gets MUCH more interesting. I read this today:

"Rawlings made his comments Friday in response to questions about initial police reports about possible other suspects. The attack happened at a protest about recent killings by police.

He said the crowd included about 20 people carrying rifles and wearing protective gear. He says that like others, they started running after the shooting began. He said authorities started stopping them and interviewing them."

So, the gunman gets hold of an AR-15, just like in Orlando, and all the NRA Rambos are marching in the street with their rifles and bulletproof vests, and they all run like rabbits when the shooting starts. But they will tell you that you can take their gun from their "cold dead hands". The only thing they accomplished was to slow down the cops who were trying to hunt down the shooter.

It's interesting how the second amendment gets all murky as soon as race becomes involved.

Time to start looking at people that make these kinds of threats on social media. How many now have we had, of all kinds of stripes, that have carried out their bloody fantasies? And once they make these kinds of threats, should they be allowed to keep their guns?

Dallas Police: Bomb-making Materials Found in Gunman's Home
July 09, 2016 - President Barack Obama will cut short a trip to Europe and travel next week to Dallas, Texas, where a deadly ambush left five policemen dead, the White House said Friday. Obama, who is in Poland for a NATO summit, will return to Washington on Sunday night, a day earlier than planned and eliminating a stop in Seville, Spain, the White House said in a statement.
Obama called the shootings a "vicious, calculated and despicable attack" on officers who were performing their jobs. He ordered American flags be lowered to half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds for four days in honor of the dead and wounded. U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the Department of Justice will provide any assistance needed in the Dallas investigation. "Do not let this week precipitate a new normal in this country," she told reporters during a news conference Friday. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Friday also said the shooter had no known links to international terrorist organizations. He added, "Violence is never the answer. Violence directed at our police officers is never the answer."

Micah Johnson, the suspect in the Dallas shooting, is seen in this undated Facebook post.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings confirmed that the killing of five police officers in the Texas city on Thursday was carried out by a lone gunman, identified as Micah Johnson. Rawlings said Friday at a news conference, "This was a mobile shooter who had written manifestos on how to shoot and move, and he did that." He added that now that the shooter is dead, "We believe now that the city is safe ... and we can move on to healing." Texas Governor Greg Abbott said while the shooter is dead, law enforcement officers must now investigate and ensure that any co-conspirators or other suspects who may have helped him. He added, "We need to focus on the imperative of unity: that we unite all citizens of Dallas, all citizens of Texas."

Suspect's home searched

During a search of Johnson's home on Friday, Dallas police detectives found bomb-making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics, the police department said in a statement. The deadly ambush that killed five police officers Thursday night was a "well-planned" attack. The White House said the shooting is unrelated to domestic or international terrorism.

'Ambush'

The attack, which city officials labeled an "ambush," happened toward the end of a demonstration against the killing of two black men by white police officers in Minnesota and Louisiana earlier this week. The gunman told officers he was "upset" about recent police shootings, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said. The U.S. military has confirmed the gunman was a former Army Reservist who served in Afghanistan. Three other people, who have not been identified, were also detained in connection with the attack. Cornered by police after the ambush, Johnson told a negotiator he wanted "to kill white people, especially white (police) officers," and said he was acting alone and was unaffiliated with any groups, Brown said during a news conference Friday.

Profiles of Officers Killed
July 09, 2016 - Two Iraq war veterans are among the five police officers killed by sniper fire Thursday night after an anti-police violence rally in Dallas, Texas turned violent. One was a private contractor who helped train the Iraqi police force, while the other was a Navy veteran who served three tours in the country.
In total, 12 police officers were shot in the coordinated attack in downtown Dallas, officials said Friday. The officers were killed by a single black man who said he wanted to kill white people – specifically white police officers – as retaliation for two black men who died at the hands of police in the states of Minnesota and Louisiana. The suspected shooter in the incident was identified as Micah Johnson, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Afghanistan.

Brent Thompson had been an officer with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system for the past seven years and was the first of the five officers killed Thursday night. Prior to joining the DART police force, the 43-year-old Thompson worked for DynCorp International, where he spent more than four years in Iraq working alongside American soldiers to help train and mentor the Iraqi police force. He had just married a fellow DART officer two weeks ago, DART Chief James Spiller said. Thompson was also a father and grandfather from a previous marriage.

Patrick Zamarripa, 32, also served in Iraq. He completed three tours with the Navy where he was deployed in Bahrain, according to military records. Upon returning from Iraq, he served in the military reserves alongside his service with the Dallas police. He leaves behind his wife, Kristy Villasenor, his two-year-old daughter and a step-son.

Police officers killed in Dallas

Lorne Aherns was a Senior Corporal with the DPD before he died in the shooting. He served on the force in Dallas for 14 years. The 48-year-old Aherns, was originally from California. He was married to a fellow Dallas police officer and was a father of two children, aged 10 and eight.

Michael Krol, 40, had always wanted to be a police officer, his uncle, Jim Ehlke, said. Prior to joining the Dallas police, Krol worked at a correctional facility in Michigan, but, Ehlke said, Krol still wanted to do more. "He got into law enforcement and worked really hard to be a police officer,” Ehlke said. “He spent some time at the correctional facility. It wasn't quite what he was looking for, so he worked pretty hard to find a job and got one in Dallas.”

Shooting Leaves Police Families Reeling
July 09, 2016 - The shooting of 12 police officers in Dallas Thursday has created anxiety for law enforcement officers all over Texas and the rest of the nation. In terms of police fatalities - five dead officers - it was the worst incident in the United States since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001
The morning after the mass shooting directed at law enforcement officers, Dallas Chief of Police David Brown told reporters, "We are hurting.” He was speaking mainly on behalf of police officers and their families, especially those who had loved ones killed or wounded, but his words also applied to the citizens of Dallas whose city was briefly turned into what looked like a war zone.

Pain shared by all law enforcement officers

The incident in Dallas resonated with law enforcement officers across the Lone Star state including members of their union, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas. In a VOA interview, Executive Director Charley Wilkison said he knows the grief felt by the families of the slain officers. "They are never going to be whole again," he said, "those families are ripped apart forever and the financial provider is gone.”

Slain Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa

Wilkison said the union last year was able to get the Texas legislature to double the death benefit for the family of an officer killed in the line of duty from $250,000 to $500,000. But, he says, officers and their families know that law enforcement in Texas is a risky undertaking. "Texas has the largest number of fallen officers in the history of America,” he said. "We have the largest number of officers killed in the line of duty of (than) any other state.” He said more than 1,960 law enforcers have been killed in shootings, automobile accidents and other ways while performing their jobs over the history of the state. He says violence against officers of the law has been a problem since the frontier days, but that lax gun laws today sometimes contribute to their sense of vulnerability.

Police object to open carry law for guns in Texas

During the shooting Thursday, Dallas police briefly detained one man who was seen carrying a rifle on the scene. He was released after it was determined he had not been involved in the shooting. The right of citizens to own guns is protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the open carrying of guns is legal in Texas. Last year the state legislature extended that right to people who have a concealed handgun permit so that a pistol can be worn publicly in a holster.

A Dallas police officer takes a moment as she guards an intersection in the early morning.

The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas opposed that law based on the problems it would create for police, but Wilkison says lawmakers passed it anyway. "It is not the police organization’s role to create judgments on Second Amendment rights,” he said, "but once you have a critical incident or a mass shooting, it is going to make everything more difficult if you have peaceful, law-abiding citizens openly carrying.”

You're SUPPOSED to run when the shooting starts and find cover.

That is Rule #1.

Rule #2 is then try and locate the shooter without getting your head shot off.

Rule #3 is if you are outgunned then keep running.

You can be outgunned by either superior fire power or by superior numbers.

For some people this is obviously like rocket science though.

The gun is not a magic wand however. It won't do magic. You can still get killed even with a gun of your ownie.

Does your side get to decide what is a threat?

So Black Lives Matter supporters looted stores In Dallas after cops were murdered. And the media didn't report it.

Shocking. Must not have met their " peace and love" agenda.

They said that were are negotiating with a second shooter.

SPREAD THIS FAR AND WIDE. THEY ARE COVERING UP AGAIN.

The cover-up is in motion. This article confirms that it's 100% impossible to rule out other suspects without a full and complete investigation.

Three other people were arrested in connection with the shooting, but the police would not name them or say why they were being held.

He refused to rule out the possibility that more people were involved, saying, “We’re not satisfied that we’ve exhausted every lead.

The three other suspects were a woman who was taken from the garage and two others who were taken in for questioning after a traffic stop, but they were not providing much information, the chief said.

The rifle was not an AR-15......it was an SKS and therefore not on the 1990s assault weapon ban list....it has a 10 round fixed magazine.....fed with strips........like a garand...............it is a 70 year old weapon.............it just gets worse and worse for the anti-gun nuts.....

It was reported in multiple articles. It was confirmed by the Dallas Business Journal who would have a closer line to breaking information than most others in the media.

The Dallas Police Department said in a prepared statement at about 11:30 p.m. that a female suspect who was in a shootout with Dallas SWAT officers near the garage at El Centro College in downtown is in custody. A suspicious package was discovered near that suspect's location and the bomb squad headed to the scene. No bombs were found.
