Nearly 5,900 methane and other gas leaks have been found in ageing natural gas pipelines in Washington, D.C., where some manholes were found to have methane levels 10 times the threshold for an explosion, according to the study conducted by researchers from Duke University and Boston University.

It's a very real and serious issue.
What I find hard to understand is the EPA's attack on such emissions during drilling and production operations, which are a drop in the bucket compared to this shit.
If you don't want to fix it then be ready for the explosions.

They've been fracking for over 30 years and to date no one has managed to blow up themselves because of fracking. They've been blown up from other causes....but no fracking. This is yet another in a long line of steaming piles of horse dung.
