I was just thinking about how cultural differences can be seen through acronyms, particulary acronyms used to describe the end of the (regular) working week Monday to Friday.

In the US the culture is work-oriented, busy-busy, nose to the grindstone and so when it comes to Friday it's TGIF - Thank God It's Friday!

In Australia, well, different culture, we finally get to Friday and it's POET'S Day!

Poet's Day - Piss Off Early Tomorrow's Saturday!

Do you have a hump day (Wednesdays) in Australia?

dog days of summer
daydream
month of Sundays - my dad always used this
the good old days

this is my favorite acronym

GOD on the side of a truck = guaranteed overnight delivery
