Nascar is at least centered around something mechanical that can contribute to the economy.
I'll bet 50% of the people who buy tickets to the events can probably do all of their own mechanical work at home. I don't attend those events myself.... I would never spend that kind of money on tickets to sit someplace and watch somebody drive around a track.
