There is nothing closed in my Democratic Governor state of NC. We can pretty much do whatever. There are mask rules and capacity rules. I’ve seen very few restrictions impact business but I’ve seen businesses impacted because people are CHOOSING not to partake in riskier behavior.

Yea Cracker Barrel has less seating which impacts them on the weekend. Yes a small restaurant with about 7 tables is closing til they can open all 7. But the vast majority of everything is open except where low demand is killing them. Went to a bar the other day and waited for my sushi. There wasnt a wait nor was the bar crowded like it used to be... all cuz of customers not going out.

What part of this is a lie? 6 of my daughter's co-workers tested positive, sending all 15 of her workgroup home for quarantine. She tested negative, and didn't get sick, but then she was mocked daily for never taking off her mask, and social distancing, and washing her hands. The people who mocked her and refused to wear masks unless required, were the ones who tested positive. She's picking up double shifts in their absence.

Common sense says "err on the side of caution". What does is cost you to wear a mast? Yes, they're a nuisance and they make my glasses fog up. But this is something I can do and I can control to help keep myself safe. I spent $4 on some washable cotton masks, and seldom go out other than shopping. I have a bubble with 6 other people in it, but we can't hang out during lockdown.

All of my friends have behaved similarly. But only one friend is in my bubble. The rest are family. All of my good friends are similar, regarding close bubbles. We connect via electronic devices, either one on one or groups. None of us has gotten the crud.

By this summer, we'll be ready for the new normal. I strongly suspect that masks will continue to be a part of lives for years to come, as part of that new normal.

Was there something you wanted to do this year, that you did not get to do? "The government" made your life a living hell, or did you just hear how bad it was for other people? Only thing I missed out on was a couple of traveling vacations, which I did not skip for the government. I skipped because I did not want to take unnecessary risks moving to beach condos, or flying. Imagine, all that public misery and I didn't get to participate.

I had something I have been looking forward to for a year and a half cancelled...it may never happen again. (The 2021 event was also cancelled.) My neighbor lost his business (restaurant), his life's work, his life savings, and his house, and hung himself in October. I know at least 5 other people dead from the lockdown, all due to financial ruin caused solely by the shutdown.
