It's similar. Different cultures, one indigenous and one invasive. The one with the most power (invader) takes the land and makes the rules. This has gone on since time immemorial. If a civilization cannot defend their land and their culture and protect their borders, this is what can happen.

They won't because they know that at least 1/3 of the Gaza strip would be subject to American bunker buster bombs and Hamas' precious tunnels would be obliterated. As long as America thinks there are hostages in those tunnels Hamas is 'safe' because the alternative is sending in tunnel rats and the labyrinth of square miles of tunnels will be virtually impossible to clear.
