Your scenario goes off the rails at this point. The US would respond with hundreds of nuclear warheads against Russia and hundreds of nuclear warheads against China. Mostly against military targets, but China would lose one of their most important cities.

China nor anybody else would back Russia if Putin decided to start throwing nukes; he would be an instant Pariah.

We wouldn't need 'hundreds', since our targeting systems are far more accurate and precise, while Russia is back to WW II style carpet barrages with out-dated artillery. We can do much more damage with a smaller payload these days. We wouldn't really need nukes at all for that matter. Our conventional capabilities are far more than enough to shut down Putin. The Ukraine ran them out of the country with 10 Himars. Give them 20 more and some real support and Russia is done.

Russia has to import drones from Iran, for gosh sakes.

Russia keeps building new ones to replace the ones that go bad.

There is zero evidence to support that.
