Todays fuel prices and corporate abuse (ENRON accounting) have been profitably brought to you by the Merger Madness of the 80s and 90s when big business, assisted in great measure by the republicans and the democrats that they own through campaign money, bought out and / or killed off much of their competition. Remember when there were gasoline ads on T.V.?
They now own the media too and theyre using it to keep our political discussion focused on health care, gay issues, religion, abortion and countless other passionate but pointless social issues that will never be solved on a national level.
I believe America is heading down a bumpy road toward socialism and gaining speed... No one, in a free market economy, has the right to the services of a doctor or nurse any more than they have the right to the services of a barber.
Can We, The People (taxpayers) afford the cost of socialism and afford to maintain our current standard of living? Can We, The People (consumers) afford the cost of corporate consolidation and afford to maintain our current standard of living? These are the real questions of the 2008 political season.
What do We, The People (who prefer a free market economy) do? Im really asking here How do you stop a moving train when you cant get to the engine room?
I'll assume you're not going to be writing "Average Joe" in big letters on your ballot in November...
It still seems a little stupid and a little early to hole up with 2 years of food and as many guns as we can carry...
So, what can We do?
If we all end up working for one of the 5 to 7 corporate conglomerates left after they manage to buy out or kill off all of their competition, isn't that just a form of communism?
Can I coin the term 'Corporate Communist'? I can't possibly be the first to see this...
Am I stoned in thinking that the socialist democrats and the corporate communist republicans are in cahoots to bring down our free market economy - whether they know it or not?
It's almost like someone is behind the scenes, pulling the strings of both ideological parties with a specific totalitarian goal in mind...
I just read a story today that Bush wants to give 'Sweeping new control' over our economy to a private corporation that you and I can't even buy stock in.
Give him credit... hes Lame Duck with stones!
Y'all did know that in spite of the word 'federal' in their name, The Federal Reserve is a private corporation didn't you?
I maintain that 2008 is a crossroads election. As difficult as it will be for those of us who understand basic economics to try and pull America back from the brink of socialism now, 2012 may prove impossible to do anything without significant damage to the infrastructure we all need, enjoy and take so much for granted.
Is there no hope for We, The People, as envisioned by Congress in 1780?
Am I paranoid?
Geez... 250 - 300 years is awfully young for a nation to go tits up... even on this planet.
