Coronavirus Becomes Leading Cause of Death in U.S.

COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, is now the deadliest disease in the United States, killing more people per day than cancer or heart disease.

According to a graph published Tuesday by Dr. Maria Danilychev, who practices in San Diego, COVID-19 is the cause of 1,970 deaths in the U.S. per day.

The graph uses data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the daily average causes of death and compares them to COVID-19 statistics from Worldometers.info.

DEATHS FROM CORONAVIRUS:

UNITED STATES:
16,074

JAPAN: 94

SOUTH KOREA: 204

AUSTRALIA: 51

SINGAPORE: 6

TAIWAN: 5

NEW ZEALAND: 1

You can see from the death totals for the different first world countries above how Donald Trump has FAILED to protect the American people from this Pathogen! If the United States were doing as well as New Zealand in protecting the public from this Pathogen, the United States would have less than 100 deaths, not over 16,000!

You are a fucking moron. You are so stupid that you don't give two second before you post such retarded shit. Everything you posted is a lie. Here is just one thing that out kills the boogeyman plague. Drunk drivers out kill covid 19. Diabetes out kills covid 19. The flue out kills covid 19. Hepatitis out kills covid 19. Retarded lemmings like you, out kill covid 19. We can match stats if you don't like that I used a link to a lawyers we sit. If you like we can go to the CDC web site as well as the WHO's website. Driving drunk or under the influence is a criminal offense in all states.
The NHTSA reports that almost 29 people die daily in America due to drunk driving. That amounted to one person dead every 50 minutes in 2016. The most recent statistics from 2010 state that the deaths and damages from drunk driving led to a loss of $44 b

Yesterday when 1,970 people died from coronavirus, there was NOTHING else that killed more Americans on that day. That was April 8, 2020. That is what the article is talking about. DAILY DEATHS CURRENTLY!

I notice YOU ignored MY post 16 completely showing that the CDC are INFLATING death numbers.

Why did you do that?

If anything, the CDC's numbers are an undercount because there are hundreds of people dying per day who have not been given a coronavirus tests, so there for they are not included in the figures. TRUMP failed to have the proper testing infrastructure set up before this occurred. So the deaths are probably well in excess of what has been reported since the United States is SO FAR BEHIND ON TESTING!

Finally, even if half of the recorded deaths were in error, that still does not change how terrible the United States has done compared to countries like New Zealand and Japan.

Facts is facts. You lied. Accept it, move on and do t do it again.

No one lied. Trump failed to protect the country as seen by the results in Japan and New Zealand. Leading cause of death yesterday in the United States was coronavirus.
First death in the US was Feb 28? Lockdown was March 16. Facts do not care about your feelings.

First U.S. death was February 29, 2020.

Only certain states were on lockdown as of March 16. Way too much of the country was still open. Your supposed to lock down the country BEFORE anyone has died. That's what New Zealand and Taiwan did!
You don't lock down a country due to one death. Please stop your anti Trump rhetoric.

No, you lock down the country before there are ANY DEATHS! That's how you fight a pandemic. We would be out of this lockdown much sooner if we had acted EARLY! EARLY action is key to defeating and stemming the overall impact of a pandemic.
How do you justify shutting down the world's biggest economy where there aren't any fatalities? Please explain. Do you understand basic economics?

The justification is not having to go through a 5 month lockdown like we are now with Hospitals overwhelmed and 18,000 dead people. When you lockdown early, you save lives, and shorten the time you have to be in lock down. Better for public health, and better for the economy.
How come we did not lock the country down over H1B1? We thought it was like another flue or SARS. You are not making any logical sense. When we realized how bad and contagious it was we shut it down.

1. Not as deadly
2. Not as infectious
3. A vaccine was made available pretty early.

The information from China in January was more than enough to justify shut downs and blocking travel. That's what New Zealand, Taiwan and other countries did, and they are seeing the benefits as we speak, while the United States is going through a disaster. The quicker you react to a growing pandemic, the less time you will need to spend in lockdown. When you WAIT to react, the spread grows, which increases the length of the lockdown you need to be under. The deeper the penetration of the virus into the population, the longer the shutdown.

And yet again you showcase your stupidity. You are quoting China's and the WHO's numbers that even libtards TDS sufferers say are bull shit. Just stop you look dumb.
He is a troll or an idiot. Or both.

Shit talking aside, dude is most likely an okay dude. We all talk smack on USMB, but damn! If one spend just 20 minutes watching the news they can come to a fast conclusion that NOTHING should be based on info coming out of China or the who.

You lying leftist. You said one death is too many!!! Now you change your tune. What vaccine. I never Got one. Did you? You’re such a terrible person. Go away and never come back.

I got the H1N1 vaccine in late 2009 before there had been significant spread. Again, H1N1 was nothing compared to the coronavirus. That's why most of the planet is on lockdown as we speak.
Oh so now you volunteer that for the first time. Desperate and Fake.
Volunteer what? You’re a lying Leftist. A terrible human being.
U2 not you

I assume this was about the H1N1 flu strain in 2009. The CDC estimates that almost 61 million people in the US got that. I don't know if describing it as not as infectious is accurate.

While reacting quickly to a pandemic may be best, the reaction we've seen around the world is, as far as I can recall, unprecedented.

The reaction in the United States to fight the pathogen was over a month late.

The H1N1 was no more infectious than seasonal flu. A vaccine came online pretty quickly. I got it myself.

Were you calling for a lockdown in January? If not, this is nothing but hindsight, Monday morning quarterbacking. In January I didn't see much, if any, of the sort of concern over the SARS-CoV-2 virus that would lead to a lockdown. I have no problem with the opinion that our government reacted poorly to the virus, but saying the US should have shut down in January is easy now that it's April and we've seen how damaging the virus has been in the NY tri-state area. It would have been a much harder sell in January, and something I didn't see being called for by anyone at that time.

Again, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand took action early and are seeing the benefits. Why couldn't the U.S. government have done the same? Why is the United States so far behind in being able to test for this pathogen? The buck stops with Donald Trump and it was his responsibility to prepare the country for a pandemic, and then take the proper steps when a pandemic started to happen. Had he done the right thing, we would be in the same situation as Taiwan. Were talking about the President of the United States here and protecting the country. When the President fails to do the job, its time to let him go, and get someone into the Presidency who can do a better job.

Oh my, look at your own post. Is that anyway for an adult to have a civil conversation about a topic issue? Were talking about Presidential policy, your thoughts on me are irrelevant.

The fact is a country like Taiwan took responsible measures in January and to date only has 6 deaths from the virus. The United States might have less than 100 deaths from this virus if we had done what Taiwan did. Instead, we have over 20,000 deaths to date, and its projected we could have as many as 60,000 deaths from this one pathogen by August 1, 2020.

Bullshit. You’re such a liar and you’re playing Monday Morning QB. No one thought it was as bad as it was at first. China lied. Your illogic is amusing. Your lies are ridiculous.

Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Australia new it was bad and took proper measures early on that Trump should have but did not. Now those countries are seeing the benefits of their early action to combat this pathogen, while the United States is experiencing tens of thousands of deaths from this pathogen.

Stop trying to panic people because, FUCK TRUMP!

National Drunk Driving Facts & Statistics (2019)
Driving drunk or under the influence is a criminal offense in all states.
The NHTSA reports that almost 29 people die daily in America due to drunk driving. That amounted to one person dead every 50 minutes in 2016. While drunk driving deaths have fallen by ⅓ in the last 30 years, drunk driving crashes still claim at least 10,000 lives per year.

And yet again you showcase your stupidity. You are quoting China's and the WHO's numbers that even libtards TDS sufferers say are bull shit. Just stop you look dumb.

You do not deserve civility and you aren’t Edge. Liar.

Again, were you calling for a shut down in January? Were US politicians other than Trump? Was the CDC? I'm pretty sure the answer to those questions is all 'no'.

You're engaging in an argument based entirely on hindsight. You're also engaging in an argument about something no one was pushing for or proposing back in January. So while it might have been better if the government had called for a shut down at that time, I doubt Trump would have gotten the support to do it.

Trump may have handled this pandemic badly, but not because he didn't single-handedly shut the country down in January.

Shutting down early is the KEY the central KEY to stopping and containing a pandemic. If you miss the boat on that, you are in for a lot of trouble which is where the United States is. Taiwan and New Zealand did the responsible things. I doubt Taiwan and New Zealand know more than U.S. Scientist and others responsible for protecting the United States from a pandemic. Unfortunately, Trump did not take their advise seriously. The President has the ability to declare martial law, launch a nuclear attack, and yes shut down the country. The President has wide powers to protect the United States. Unfortunately Trump failed to use his powers as President to do the right things in January. If he had, we would be enjoying the security that Taiwan and New Zealand have relatively to most other countries.

UNITED STATES:
16,074

JAPAN: 94

SOUTH KOREA: 204

AUSTRALIA: 51

SINGAPORE: 6

TAIWAN: 5

“New”? LOL

Name one Democrat who said we should shut the country down on Jan 1st. I ll Patiently wait. I gave you multiple links that show they said the opposite.

The President is commander and chief and responsible for the security of the country. It was his job to protect the United States from this pathogen as well or better than Taiwan and New Zealand have protected their citizens. Trump FAILED to do that.

You're not Edge. You're a liar. The President is doing a great job.

Another Monday Morning Quarterback.

Just fucking great.

Canada is getting crushed too. We lost massive jobs and Ontario lost over 40% of all jobs alone, even as the Premier tries to assure us our horse and buggy economy will recover.

We were already in dire straits before this virus, and they has made it so that people who apply for help must have made a MINIMUM in earnings, whereas the U.S uses a MAXIMUM ($99k). This means we have about 3-4x more people in desperate need in Canada with no option, they will just lose their homes, be evicted, not find work.

In an already destroyed economy this is horrible. Our leaders have told us to expect this to be the norm for at least a year! Meaning, we will have full blown communism in place while you are going back to work and crushing the global economies again.

Trump deserves some credit. If you want to place blame on a virus that came from Communist China, blame the Governor or Mayor of NY. If you don't think they are to blame, how is Trump?

Look at New Zealand, only one death from Coronavirus. Why can't the United States protect its people as well as New Zealand has protected its people?

You don't seem to be interested in the facts......

1. Today ==> 2,000 deaths
2. New York + New Jersey ==> 1,000 deaths
3. Michigan ==> 200 deaths.
4. Penn + Con + Mass = 275 deaths.

75% of those deaths are in five states and it has pretty much been that way since we started (not always Mich...but NY & NJ for sure).

That leaves 500 for the rest of the country.

Many (like 30+) are still below 100 total deaths

Nobody in the west cares.

Especially not Wyoming (0 deaths).

So, blame it on Cuomo, De Blahzio and the wench from Michigan.

Its the President's job to shut down foreign travel which he failed to do. The outbreak in New York came from people traveling from Europe to New York. That's why the President should have shut down all foreign travel, not just travel from China. Also the northeast has greater population density which plays a role is spreading this thing further. New York City is the hub for world travel, then combined with the population density within 300 miles of New York City and that explains the problem. Only way to prevent that is to STOP foreign travel EARLY.

That's why JAPAN, TAIWAN, SINGAPORE and SOUTH KOREA are doing so well relative to the United States despite their greater population densities. Trump needed to shut down foreign Travel early, like late January. If he had, we could be in the same situation as TAIWAN right now.

International travel has not hurt Cali.

International travel has not hurt D.C.

International travel has not hurt a lot of other places.

The leaders of New York (AS HAS BEEN WIDELY SHOWN) purposely told people to get out and party after they were warned.

The people of New York listened.

The leaders of New York caught on.

The people of New York didn't listen.

They just barely shut down public parks.

So, you can whine all you want about Trump.

New York is dying because of others.

Time to climb out of your PMSNBC bubble and come to grips with reality.

TAIWAN: 5

What would have made you happy? Shut down all air travel and businesses beginning in January? Your darling New York Governor wanted no part of a quarantine and most other US governors would have agreed. Regular flu has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. But THIS one is different because Trump is President.

The flu kills 10,000 Americans a year. Covid-19 has managed to kill 20,000 in a matter of weeks.

That's a huge difference. At this rate we could be at six digit deaths by December.

It is NOT like the flu.

Which advisors, specifically, told the president to shut down the country in January? Or are you just assuming that happened?

If I'm going to bash Trump, or anyone else, I find it preferable to stick to things that actually happened.

Well, we know what Taiwan and New Zealand did and it saved their citizens from the HELL the United States is going through right now. I am assuming that the President was told by some experts on pandemics that such actions were needed, but failed to heed their warnings that action needed to be taken swiftly. Otherwise, your assuming that when it comes to the SCIENCE of combating pandemics, that the United States is behind countries like Taiwan and New Zealand. I seriously doubt that. Either way, the BUCK stops with Trump and he is responsible for what the United States did or did not do in trying to stop this pandemic. Donald Trump should be judged on how well he protected the United States. With the 15th highest infection rate on the planet, and the largest number of deaths, its clear that Donald Trump failed in his job to protect the American people. The American people have a right to demand more of their government officials and its clear they failed in stopping this pandemic when there is so little loss of life in places like New Zealand and Taiwan. The United States would not have to be under a massive lockdown right now if it had simply done what Taiwan did in January. Taiwan is not under a lockdown inside of the country. That's because they STOPPED THE SPREAD at the beginning and have successfully contained the virus with TESTING and contact TRACING! The United States is struggling to get to where Taiwan has been for months. It make take the United States over a year to get there because of Trump's failure.

WRONG.

Abortion is still the leading cause of death in America, killing 3000 per day.
