This is happening all over. Our hyper aggressive, federally funded, dishonest militarized cops are targeting people, instigating aggressive confrontations, and arresting and killing people for no reason.
"A police officer who witnessed Sandra Bland's traffic stop said the Waller County district attorney would not let him testify before a grand jury about facts favorable to Bland, a community activist and former Waller County justice of the peace said Tuesday."
"... Brian Encinia made sure he was not in ear shot of the car. He turned off his own microphone so no one would hear. And then he called his supervisor. He said, āI have no idea what Iām going to arrest her for, but weāll figure it out when we get to the county jail,'ā [activist DeWayne] Charleston saidā¦
"Kelley says on the recording he tried to share what heād heard with an official at the district attorneyās office.
āI wanted to testify on Sandra Blandās behalf and they told me if I said anything theyāre going to come after me,ā he said in the recording."
"Kelley also claimed he made a statement to the Prairie View Police Chief, but it never made it into the official report."
"Bland didnāt put anyone in danger by turning without her signal, and the trooper had no reason to turn around and confront her. Unfortunately, the discussion over this is lost in the possible corruption and cover up in Waller County. Cases like this arenāt always about racism (and thereās still no evidence of this in Blandās death) but about overcriminalization, and how anyone can be caught up in it. At some point, weāre going to have to discuss why certain laws exist, and whether itās to protect people or just to soak up money from those who do something which is less than safe."
