Consumer safety board to weigh regulations on gas stoves

Yup, they get hotter faster. There's no time lost waiting for an eye to get hot.

That and with gas when you turn down the temp it happens immediately.
Once you get a practiced eye you can turn on a gas stove and know right off the bat just by looking at the flame how hot it's going to be.
I hate our electric oven. The temp will fluctuate plus or minus 30 degrees and it's a GE Profile.
I found this out by accident while reading about stoves and their temp holding abilities. It turns out all electric stoves are like this.

I can't say that I'm surprised by this. Not much else to say, really. Shenanigans like this are just plain predictable, given the historically regressive nature of the progressive green movement. Framed in the usual manner, of course. It's for the childrens.

Anyway...

''The U.S. agency in charge of making sure the country’s consumer products are safe will weigh regulations on new gas stoves, one of the board’s commissioners said on Wednesday.

Richard Trumka Jr., a commissioner on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), said during a virtual webinar on Wednesday that the commission will put out a formal request by March for information on hazards associated with gas stoves and possible solutions.

“This public request for information is the first step in what could be a long journey toward regulating gas stoves,” he said.

But he added that the process could be sped up with enough public pressure.

“We could get a regulation on the books before this time next year,” he said.

Trumka, who is the son of the late labor organizer of the same name, called an outright ban on new gas stoves “a real possibility.

“It could mean better indoor air quality, which could mean fewer instances of childhood asthma, fewer flare ups of childhood asthma, fewer missed school days, fewer missed work days,” Casale told The Hill.''

just like a professional race car driver knows how fast he's going by the engine noise and what gear he's in.

Always used to burn shit in our electric range.
Then the element would burn out every other year. Those suckers ain't cheap.
Finally ran a gas line to kitchen and replaced with a new gas range.
Will never go back to electric.
No more burnt baked goods

I don’t think all this shit will end well, but I’m a skeptic. So hopefully it’s not as bad as it appears to me, but I doubt it.
.

In some ways it eventually comes down to the money.

I live in a State that is rich with oil and natural gas reserves ... The State Government gets a great deal of money from excise, resource and sales taxes.
Our State has a Balanced Budget Amendment in our State Constitution ... They cannot spend money they don't have.

When the option to getting rid of oil and natural gas crosses their threshold ... The politicians tend to say that they no intention whatsoever,
of cutting funding to Higher Education or State Services in attempts to make people in California and New York happy.

Nope ... They are more likely to add an Amendment to our State Constitution ... That secures their funding.
Recently .. Our State Legislature has had a knack for answering a question before it gets asked ... In our State Constitution.

You don't really hear a lot about it ... Because here the Amendments go to the People ...
And when they pass with upwards of 70% support ... It's not just along party lines.

It's about time People start figuring out what they can do where they are ...
It may not be perfect ... But it will get you closer to where you have control over it.

We had an electric stove in a rent house we were in and it sucked!!
When you wanted to turn down the temp in a hurry you had to remove the pot from the burner and turn down the temp and wait 5 or 10 minutes before it went down.

Think I was around four when I decided to put my hand on a burner that was shut off recently and burnt the shit out of my hand. Had the swirl marks for weeks.

When I was a little tyke my Mother said I used to like climbing things.
She said she came into the kitchen one day and she found me on top of the refrigerator.
Another time I'd climbed up on the stove and turned the electric stove on while I was sitting on the burner.
She said she caught me before it burned through my diaper.
That would have been one weird scar for sure.
