That 4% is nearly double the expected first year enrollment target. It is almost 1/3d of those those without affordable, accessible, quality health care.

The major health insurance companies realize they continue to grow fat from the charges.

The far right is wrong, the rest of America is right, and the GOP will respond accordingly.

Dumb butts who write "People like you are responsible for the tax burdens for those things" when taxes as a part of our income are at a 60 year low.

Someone not earning a living wage becasue they have low skills doesn't deserve a handout or subsidy.

Who are you to decide who is deserving and who isn't?

Once again your un-American arrogant bigotry is on display.

It's not un-American to want to keep what I've earned. It is un-American to demand someone else to support you because you can't. It's also un-American when people like you say something should be done a certain way then do anything but do it yourself voluntarily without expecting others to do it because it's the way you want it done.

Who am I to decide. I'm the one that earned the money someone else thinks they have more of a right to than the one that earned it. Please explain why if I earn it and spend the hours doing so that someone not earning it should get a dime of it. Please no emotional bullshit arguments. That's all you bleeding hearts have, though.

That 4% didn't need the government doing it. All they should have had to do was ask people like you that say you care to fund it on their behalf. You wouldn't have helped them voluntarily but still clamed compassion as if it can come from good intentions.

Conservative65, you are whining, period.

You live in a constitutional republic that elects legislators to make these choices.

I do help them, probably in the excess of your yearly earnings.

Quit whining, son, stop blaming others, and work harder for yourself.

You don't get to choose who gets your tax dollars. If you don't like paying taxes go and live in Somalia instead.

I wasn't thrilled when Bush jr was pissing away my tax dollars in Iraq but I wasn't a whiner like you are.

So no, you don't get to decide all on your lonesome who is and isn't worthy of government assistance. If you want to make those decisions stand for Congress and find enough like minded AWG's to vote for you.

We the People through our democratically elected representatives decide who is going to get what. You have your say in the voting booth just like I do. Wiser heads than yours have figured out that when you allow people to sink into abject poverty you end up with rampant crime. You would be paying a fortune for private security services if you lived in your inane "Libertarian small government paradise".

So grow up and stop whining. If you want the benefits of this nation then be man enough to pay your share. You don't get to enjoy living here without paying your full share. That goes for the 1% too because they are getting a virtual free ride but this nation can't afford to subsidize them much longer. Taxes will have to rise to pay for their warmongering, defense spending and Wall Street Casino Ponzi schemes.

So no, you don't get to decide who is and isn't worthy of government subsidies. Which is just as well because no mature adult wants to live in your fool's paradise.

As for taxes being a part of living in society, when the almost half that don't pay income taxes start doing so, that will mean something. So the fact that you are so ignorant as to actually believe that 47% don't pay taxes canard exposes your utter stupidity.

Medicare and SS account for 46% of the budget and 100% of taxpayers pay into those 2 line items.

However the 1% don't contribute their fair share to SS because their contributions are "capped" meaning that they are getting away with not paying their full obligation to this nation based upon their earnings.

That you know none of the above explains why you are a low information extremist rightwinger.

Not everyone that earns an income pays income taxes. You do know there is a difference.

Lying about how much is spent on Medicare and SS doesn't help your case. The budget is $3.78 trillion and spending on both of those adds up to $1.4 trillion. That's about 37% not 46%. I can understand why you wouldn't know how to calculate it.

You mention that the 1% contribute their fair share to SS. Let's say that someone working at minimum wage all their life gets $1000/month when they start getting SS. If you take the average minimum wage over the last 40 years it comes to somewhere around $4-5/hour. That's $9 - 11,000/year. Let's say someone contributes to SS for that same 40 years with an average 10x greater than that of the lifelong minimum worker. Do you believe that the higher income worker should get $10,000/month in distributions since they paid at an amount 10x as much or are you one of those that wants them to pay 10x as much but not benefits 10x as much.

When I start getting SS, I will take it whether I need it or not and my plan is not having to rely on it. I will do it for one reason only and that's because I was required to be a part of it and will do so even if someone with you attitude who needs it more lives in the gutter.

I have three degrees, two of which are advanced, from three universities that would laugh if you even asked for an application.

I want YOU to come and collect what you say I owed. I can understand why you won't. Pussies like you run your mouth about what you think should be done yet won't do a damn thing about it. In typical fashion, you let the government do it for you. How does it feel to know the reason you eat is because people like me work?

Misconceptions and Realities About Who Pays Taxes mdash Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

  • In 2007, before the economy turned down, 40 percent of households did not owe federal income tax. This figure more closely reflects the percentage that do not owe income tax in normal economic times.[4]
  • These figures cover only the federal income tax and ignore the substantial amounts of other federal taxes — especially the payroll tax — that many of these households pay. As a result, these figures greatly overstate the share of households that do not pay federal taxes. Tax Policy Center data show that only about 17 percent of households did not pay any federal income tax or payroll tax in 2009, despite the high unemployment and temporary tax cuts that marked that year.[5] In 2007, a more typical year, the figure was 14 percent. This percentage would be even lower if it reflected other federal taxes that households pay, including excise taxes on gasoline and other items.

  • Most of the people who pay neither federal income tax nor payroll taxes are low-income people who are elderly, unable to work due to a serious disability, or students, most of whom subsequently become taxpayers. (In years like the last few, this group also includes a significant number of people who have been unemployed the entire year and cannot find work.)

  • Moreover, low-income households as a group do, in fact, pay federal taxes. Congressional Budget Office data show that the poorest fifth of households paid an average of 4.0 percent of their incomes in federal taxes in 2007, the latest year for which these data are available — not an insignificant amount given how modest these households’ incomes are; the poorest fifth of households had average income of $18,400 in 2007.[6] The next-to-the bottom fifth — those with incomes between $20,500 and $34,300 in 2007 — paid an average of 10.6 percent of their incomes in federal taxes.

As far as the rest of your BS lies go tell that to the government.

You're retarded. From YOUR REFERENCE:

Close to half of U.S. households currently do not owe federal income tax. The Urban Institute-Brookings Tax Policy Center estimates that 46 percent of households will owe no federal income tax for 2011. A widely cited figure is a Joint Committee on Taxation estimate that 51 percent of households paid no federal income tax in 2009. (The TPC figure for 2009 also is 51 percent.)

I copied the picture so it would be easier for you to see the numbers than have to read all the difficult words in the text.

SS and Medicare account for 24% and 22% for a total of 46%.

So that makes RKMBrown and Conservative65 the ignorant liars in this thread.

Game, Set and Match to DT!

The 22% claim you make for Medicare include Medicaid and CHIP. You do know those are two different things don't you?

That makes you the retard by trying to misrepresent something as something it isn't. Guess you think payroll taxes and income taxes are the same thing. Perhaps that's why you don't pay income taxes. You're too stupid to be able to earn enough to do so. Being an unskilled worker doesn't pay you much does it?

Payroll taxes are based upon your earned income from wages and salary and all but 14% pay them in normal years.

I take it up with you. They presented percentages. YOU claimed something about those percentages that was false. Typical of your kind to blame someone else for something they didn't do.

Why don't you explain to me why you think a family of four not paying income taxes until the gross income is approximately $47,000 yet benefitting from things funded by income taxes is paying their fair share.
