If the electorate would get involved in the day-to-day functions of the nation (not just showing up on 4/15 to pay taxes and a Tuesday in November to cast a ballot), we would have a much better nation. There are 536 federal posts that are voted on every 6 years; the effect that any of them have on your day to day life is almost zero.

Yet the outsized profile of these posts lends itself to the win at all costs mentality from both sides. Obama won 332-206 in 2012 and, I believe got 353 electoral votes in 2008. Prior to that George W Bush won two elections in 2000 and 2004. That anyone from either side can say that such didn't indicate that Obama and Bush didn't have any good ideals is bullshit. You don't win elections without getting some support from the middle of the political spectrum and both men did. If you can't see that they each had some ideas that resonated with the electorate...well, you're either ignorant or flat out stupid.

The word "United" has nothing to do with Conservatives or Liberal/Socialists. It has to do with 50 soverign states "United" to work together. And no, Conservatives do not want a divorce from the United States, and never have. Soverign states, each experimenting with concepts that make life better for the citizens of those states, and the other states adopting what works the best for their citizens. There has never been a marriage between the left and right. They are more like brothers who have different views of what our country should be. Our founders were not liberal. They ran away from liberals and chose freedom, fair taxation, small government and capitalism.

It's the left that wishes to separate from the U.S. Real Americans love this country, meaning they love the constitution and appreciate why this country was founded in the first place. The left despises much of the content in our founding document. It's as if they wish to divorce the foundation on which this country began and reunite with our ex. P.S. it is the current infighting NOW that's ALREADY been happening that makes us weak.
Look how much we spent on political campaigns, while Chinese are investing in buying up LAND.
Why aren't we investing in rebuilding our economy and communities instead of having to fight off govt taking more resources and land?

1. In conflict resolution, it does not help to take sides and go in blaming one side.
So for resolution to work, it would take people from both left and right willing to include and accommodate each other as equals, without coercion or blame.

2. I would emphasize the GOOD strengths of both left and right, and use THOSE to push the parties for corrections:
* the RIGHT tend to emphasize "RULE of LAW" and the spirit of the Constitution which is central and unifying
(but it needs to be applied consistently for all people not just one sided interests, there must be checks and balances to prevent abuse)
* the Left tends to emphasize "EQUAL INCLUSION" and not using power to discriminate against minority voices
(but this needs to be applied INCLUSIVELY and not exclude people or beliefs on the right for political agenda)

instead of blaming one side or the other, both sides need to apply THEIR OWN PRINCIPLES CONSISTENTLY

The problem is the left represents people who don't have access to the same authority based on "ownership" of land and laws.

The more the Left relies on political party for power, that's where the bias is coming from.

They are already on unequal footing from people who draw authority from the laws;
and land ownership gives unequal authority to the owners over anyone else.

We are not standing on equal grounding to begin with.
So add dependence on political parties to access govt authority

and that's what causing the outcry of discrimination by class blamed on white men for setting up the system to favor property owners as having more say because of having more stake in the policies affecting their ability to keep and manage their property.

but it will never be equal. People with ownership experience are unequal to those without.
