By your dividing of the US this way, you leave out all the people who are not represented by either party.
I agree people from all sides need to work together,
but you can't have this while demonizing and blaming "one side more than the other!"
The two major parties need to separate their AGENDA from govt, from "each other."
The marriage contract should remain under the Constitution which is intact.
If we enforced "equal protection of the laws" no political party could abuse govt.
So this isn't divorcing the US, but acting in the best interests of the people.
Not the two major parties or partners fighting for unequal custody and control.
The United States has always been a marriage between libs and cons, that's the "united" in United States. But a marriage only works if there is compromise. If one can't except the other for who they are, it won't work. You can't try to force someone to be the way you want them to be.
The best times in America has been when both sides worked together. The worst times was when the Civil war happened because neither side would compromise. Looks like this country is going back to that same old stupidity.
When a family goes through a divorce the children suffer, and the economy of the family diminishes. As a result of the republicans wanting to secede from the U.S., our country is no longer the economic leader of the world, China is.
When a family goes through a divorce, the children usually become less educated. The U.S. is now one of the most uneducated industrialized countries in the world.
When a family goes through a divorce, the home falls into disrepair. America's roads, bridges and infrastructure is in shambles.
If this divorce happens, it will be very easy for the new super power to take us over. Look what's happening to Ukraine.
P.S. it is the current infighting NOW that's ALREADY been happening that makes us weak.
Look how much we spent on political campaigns, while Chinese are investing in buying up LAND.
Why aren't we investing in rebuilding our economy and communities instead of having to fight off govt taking more resources and land?
BTW I agree with the general idea of what you are saying here.
1. In conflict resolution, it does not help to take sides and go in blaming one side.
So for resolution to work, it would take people from both left and right willing to include and accommodate each other as equals, without coercion or blame.
2. I would emphasize the GOOD strengths of both left and right, and use THOSE to push the parties for corrections:
* the RIGHT tend to emphasize "RULE of LAW" and the spirit of the Constitution which is central and unifying
(but it needs to be applied consistently for all people not just one sided interests, there must be checks and balances to prevent abuse)
* the Left tends to emphasize "EQUAL INCLUSION" and not using power to discriminate against minority voices
(but this needs to be applied INCLUSIVELY and not exclude people or beliefs on the right for political agenda)
instead of blaming one side or the other, both sides need to apply THEIR OWN PRINCIPLES CONSISTENTLY
or they are BOTH at fault for why there is objection to their onesided agenda that even VIOLATES their OWN PRINCIPLES.
