What possible purpose can this serve? What business is it of the government who you sleep with? The Census was created for Congressional district apportionment and nothing more. 90% of the information on it is completely unnecessary.

One such letter, being circulated by Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) is seeking "support for expanded data collection by the Census Bureau on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals."

They don't have a clue yet?
This matters for what purpose and how they will use the figures in the future, pro or con.

You might want to re-read my posts in this thread - I already told you I don't give a shit if you choose not to fill out a census form.

The point that you're missing is that according to the Constitution, representatives can only be apportioned via the census. So you and your neighbors refusing to fill it out can in fact make you lose representation in Congress (and the state house - they use the census too).
