Congress is referring four Dem sanctuary city mayors to the DOJ for criminal prosecution

The DOJ may or may not accept any congressional referral for criminal prosecution.

But I’d expect for it to be denied — at least as to NYC Mayor Adams.

Definitely in violation of the law
(iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation

These four are among the worst offenders, and a good place to start.

There are many more, of course, including the governors of sanctuary states who also need to go to prison.

The "Rule of Law" Is the Rule of Lawyers

This open treason should have been punished decades ago. The fact that it wasn't shows that we have to get rid of this failed political system.

But they won't have to pay for legal representation, city attorneys will handle it and in some instances the state AG may get involved.
Probably not, if investigators find other crimes. The city state might tell them they're on their own.

yawns, That code section applies to people who bring aliens into the US, not those who have to deal with them once they are here.

Tax evasion, money laundering and fraud are a different story.

Why are we going to wait until an agent or a group of agents gets murdered by illegal aliens who were protected by sanctuary cities, before we get serious. We need to get proactive and enforce our laws. There's nothing honorable or smart about what these sanctuary cities are doing. Maybe if these mayors had to share a cell with an illegal alien rapist, murderer or pedophile, they might get rehabilitated.
