bodecea, this was not a rhetorical question(s).
1. Is your point that the supposedly wacist southern whites, only voted for Jimmy Carter, DESPITE his strong civil right's record because of Watergate backlash?
2. IF that is your point, then why play stupid games, why not just clearly state your point?
So bodecea answer to the South voting for Jimmy Carter despite teh Left's belief in the South being a seething pit of wacism,
is to say, "watergate backlash". ANd to not explain that.
So, I will make her argument for her.
Her position is that the South is and was in 1976 a seething pit of wacism. That the only reason that the South voted for Jimmy Carter was moral outrage over Watergate. This bothered the South, much more than the rest of the country, which mostly voted for Ford.
Thus, bodecea position is based on the assumption that the South is more moral than the rest of the country, because the shock and outrage over Watergate was stronger then, twice over.
The outrage had to be stronger than the rest of the country, because they voted against Ford based on it.
And it had to be EVEN STRONGER, because that meant that the South was voting for Jimmy Carter, a known strong supporter of civil rights.
By having this position, ie that the South is more moral than the rest of hte country, bodecea thinks she can defend the Southern Strategy Conspiracy Theory which is based o n hte idea that the south is a seething pit of wacism.
Everyone get that? Bodecea position is, that the South is much more moral than the rest of the country, which proves that it very, very wacist.
Bodecea, that is indeed what you were trying to imply with your snarky comments right?
IF not, what did I get wrong?
