But the partisanship isn't, necessarily, a result of our moral failings. Unfortunately, it is incentivized by our obsolete election process. Our system of voting discourages consensus and drives us toward two entrenched and opposed parties - and away from parties that seek broader consensus. And it actively impedes third party access, both technically, with byzantine ballot access rules, and implicitly with the lesser-of-two-evils factor.

Sometimes what seems like the work of bad actors is a result of systemic problems.
